Hi guys this is my first thread on this site & i have a question for everyone
I have done a LOT of research in regards to the 3 different diodes in quality LED’s i mentioned in the name of thread & i have looked at the efficacy + ppfd/par charts + max yield-gram per watt etc etc & there really isn’t too much of a difference really i think except for the costs to run them. 301H Evo is the most energy efficient i believe + the par chart doesn’t vary too much.
Spider Farmer has lights with all 3 & i think Mars Hydro & Ac Infinity also but me being an Aussie i am extremely limited to what i can get here UNLESS i wanna pay $1000 postage & thats the standard pretty much. I REALLY wanna go with AC Infinity as they seem to have the best quality equipment but its iutside my reach & between Mars & Spider i think Spider is better ONLY JUST both of which i can buy herez Anyone with experience with all 3 or even 2 for advice please.
Secondly what is everyone’s preference between quantum boards & bar style lights? And why? (disregarding brand of diodes)
I prefer bar style myself BUT what do i know 🤷‍♂️
All help is welcome,cheers & happy growing/puffing 😉

I grow with board style in my 8x4 and a bar style in my 55x28x80. It's my first grow with the bar style and it runs much cooler then the board style and the driver is removable. Also the bar style are usually sized so they completely fill the tent for a more even par map, the board styles are quite a bit smaller in comparison and the ppfd drops more toward the edges then the bar style does. I will be upgrading the board style in my 8x4 to the bar style one day.

Any of those diode types will do you good, Samsung is the bigger name but bridgelux makes good stuff as well!

My bar style is the Spider Farmer SE4500 I'm not sure what size tent you have but Spider Farmer SE comes in many different sizes so they will have one for the size space you need! SE series have an awesome par map IMO (self tested) and I highly recommend!!!

I've not used the AC Infinity lights but all my ventilation is made by them and I also use there Controller 69 Pro to automate my tents.
Even though I haven't used their lights, ACI puts out quailty stuff and customer service is the best in the industry.

Get the best light for the tent or whatever grow space you're using. Square ones, like bar lights, are good for square tents. Rectangular ones are good for rectangular tents.

I also recommend matching the lights with the controller so they can work together.

What was the first question?

Yeah i like the idea of the 69 Controller Pro to automate stuff & you CAN use it with ANY other supplier’s equipment with the cables available for extra $ but again its too costly to buy here

viparspectra has good lights too
Yeah I haven’t had too much of a look at them yet…..i was looking at only a 3x3 tent but with everything that comes with a 4x4 kit that you create your own on Spider Farmer & i was looking at getting the G5000 450W but then only now i realised they run Bridgelux diodes & i know all will work well enough although the efficacy of 301H Evo outdoes every other style diodes in many aspects imo & i would rather go with an SE5000 with the said diodes 🤷‍♂️

Just preference & what others have found they have better results with one or the other, thats all 🤷‍♂️😊

Ok whatever buddy….but the diodes are different (doh) & all im asking is for others opinions or preferences & if possible why those preferences…..please dont make fun of me asking a question that i am more than positive that a lot more than just myself would be interested in knowing 🤷‍♂️ 😡
If this amuses you, good luck to you please don’t assume im a first time dummy 😊

I understand a lot of it is sales techniques to do their best to distinguish the ‘better’ lights from the ’not so better’ ones & therefore distinguish their prices accordingly …efficacy of each of the said diodes there is really not much to compare besides prices.
I think if you had everything else dialled in correctly then the type of diode used really wouldn’t show a difference worth talking about although this whole thing gnaws at me tbh 🤣

I'm a long time HPS/MH grower who took more than a few years off. Getting back into it with LED. Newer Smaller (2x2 or 3x3?) I have been reading & researching too. I have the same exact questions as Cann Digz. Yes much of what I have learned and researched makes me crazy on what to buy.

if you look amongst the most used and rather cheap led brand. they all are rather equivalent.

each brand will have their tweak regarding the spectrum, led layout and whatever ... each brand will claim their tweak are the best ... but truth is when it come to comparing the end product in term of quality and yield you won't notice a signifiant difference amongst the fixture equivalent in power from different brands.

you will observe much more dispersion regarding yield depending strains and phenotypes within a strain than using this or that fixture from this or that led manufacturer when it come to equivalent models in term of power

Quite perfectly said,i agree a lot…
Im just looking for ‘most popular’ vs ‘most efficient’ of course according to the grower….my small first world dilemma is WHICH ONE do i go with?🤷‍♂️
I totally get that the end results are literally according to the grower/strain & believe me im no stranger to growing ALTHOUGH this is my first REAL attempt at indoor & the multiple options available ESPECIALLY in the US is mind blowing & rather than just accumulate bits & pieces from all sorts of suppliers just like street dope really…alll im looking for is ‘better’ growers opinions on their choices if they were me 🤷‍♂️

There has to be a consensus on what is ‘preferred’ amongst the MANY of those individuals in the group 🤷‍♂️…..surely

On another note from what i have seen & gathered that DWC seems to increase productivity & yield by a LOT & is it worth it?

Like I said before, I really like my Spider Farmer SE4500, I'm sure you would be happy with the SE5000!
You can actually find some recent grow diaries from active members on here using both the G series and the SE series.

i have 2 2x3x6 tent running a spiderfarmer SF2000 and a SF2000 EVO, i was running 250 HPS few years ago., i have choosen the sf2000 mostly because of the panel dimension and led layout that was offering the most even light coverage and light dispersion for my tent size imo.

i think for a 3x3 tent i would get the G5000 over the SE5000 and SF4000 EVO. price difference not worthing it imho compared to the result you'll get with one or the others.

That's a really good point to bring up.
When I bought the SE4500, I was also looking at the G4500.
With the help of members here, came to the conclusion that the extra cost might not be worth it.
I went with the SE4500 because it was on sale plus I was able add a promo code and eneded up getting it cheaper then the G series.

Ok sounds great that’s what I’m looking for tbh….i WAS looking at the G5000 but turned off by Bridgelux diodes & i was only just looking at both the quantum board SF4000 with 301H Evo + SE bar style with 301B diodes & cost isn’t really my main concern, only the efficiency & when it comes to adding supplemental lights its not possible with the board style so i guess its the SE5000 for me 🤷‍♂️
