Default C99 male pollen removal

What's up fellas?

I was recently given this Bros Grimm C99 male and after a few weeks 12/12 it has blown up with sacs that haven't opened yet. I want to get as much pollen as possible from her for a seed run. I have only used a cotton swab in the past for single branch pollination, but am thinking I should cut the branches, place them in gallon zip lock bags and shake the shit out of them. Any opinions on other methods for easy collecting?

Thanks

The question is, do have flowering females nearby that you don't want pollenated?

I will assume you only want to selectively pollenate several branches and not the whole plant. If so, you want to isolate the male, and when the sacks look like they are about to open, you can cut them, and put them in a vase/jar of water just like a flower(well, it is a flower, isn't it ) Tilt the branch over a mirror/piece of glass/plexiglass and allow it to sit in an area w/o much wind current. After a bit of time there will be a cloud of gold dust that almost looks like kif that you can scrape into a small container and apply w/a paintbrush or a qtip or something.

Alternatively, if you are going to pollenate everything and just make hash from it after you remove the seeds just leave the boys and girls together, and put a fan on the boy so he is blowing on the girls.

Be safe and hth

Thanks for the reply.

The males are at a different location than the females, so I will transport the pollen and selectively pollinate certain branches. The glass sounds like an easier way to go. I can just use a razor to collect the pollen.

I want to keep him and see what he brings to a cross, so I think I will top him when the sacs open and put him back into veg. I'm pretty excited because he seems to have really nice traits; quick flower, very strong smell, good internode spacing, very healthy overall. There are 2 females being brought to me tomorrow from the same pack of beans so I am on cloud 9 right now.

I'll second the suggestion of clipping flowering branches and keeping them in a vase of water. A piece of wax paper underneath works well for collecting the shed pollen. Dry, refrigerated pollen has proved viable for at least a month in my experience, some say much longer.

Don't think putting the flowering tops in a ziplock would be the best plan. The plant's transpiration would put a good bit of moisture in the bag with your pollen.

I forgot to mention that C99 is one of my favorite all time smokes. In fact, I am smoking a large spliff of it right now

The original f1 was the first professional seeds I ever aquired, and are still in the garden today as top notch smoke, and surpasses most of the seedbank strains that I've ever tried.

Are yours the F1? I've got three seeds left myself and was gonna look for a male soon, too

Be safe and enjoy life

It was F1. My buddy had a large party two nights ago at my house not knowing that this plant was in my closet. Gone. Why someone would take a male plant is beyond me.
