the most expensive part was those quick release fittings. i would say it cost me $80 dollars per bucket. not including pumps and chiller, just for the actual buckets. i was able to make the buckets in 3 hrs for 5 buckets. i havent fired it up yet, im setting up the 4in pvc pipe drain back today

of all things to be leaking its the 1/2in feed line on a couple of the "T"s. i realized that those two "T"s are those raindrop ones, so fixing that in about 5 mins after this coffee

another problem i ran into is, the 27gal totes filled, I thought, was 9 gallons, but its actually more like 13 because when i filled the 70 and turn it on the res was empty before i had any return. so that kinda sucks because now i have to have more water in my system than the res can hold.

Im thinking of a 1'' over flow for teh res, or a stop valve right off the pump, and then install a quick realease fitting right after that, so if the pump fails the water cant flow back, but if i want to drain it i just detatch the pump and allow it to drain out. havent found a stop valve that doesnt cut down your pumps pressure

Does this hurt the root zone taking down the water levels in the individual containers to almost nothing during the middle to late stage draining from being exposed to too much air for too long of a period of time? I would appreciate your input. Thank you.

thanks
yes, they have clogged one 1 inch drain b4 but never the 2nd, this is whay we use 2 drains. Yes i have check valves and i made a loop passed the valve with a shutoff attached. When its time to drain i open the shutoffs and they all drain.

my room dimensions is 30 x 25ft with a 10 x 10ft room cut out of that for res's, ballasts and chillers.

Congradulatons bro, really look forward to the pics !!
I do not advise anybody, especially new growers to run different strains in this system. You end up with 1 strain needing lots of nutes and the other needing alot less.

give er hell bro

dds

ps dont forget the pics !!

stop valves are found at home depot. you will need the valve and 2 nipples.

There is always more water in your system than the res can hold. This is a good thing bro, more water, more nutes equals happier plants

Hey Doubleds,
Setting up my system this coming weekend. Ordered the following:
- 8 Gallaxy 1000 watt 8
- 8 Sun Tube 6" air cooled 8
-1800 gph mag drive 2
-eco Plus 1267 gmh 1
-Commercial Air pump 2
- maxi-jet3000 775gph 2
-Titan co2 Regulator 1
-Titen co2 Controller 1
-Eco Plus Wall Fan 16" 2
-Eco Plus 1/4 hp Water Chiller 1
-24-7 nut monitor 1
-55 gallon Rs 1
-solarmax 1000 watt hps 6
-Eye Hortilux 1000 watt mh 2
************************
Do you think there are drawbacks to using the cool tubes besides the nominal lumen loss? I'm planning on using the homes A/C just to keep the room cool. It's a trane model if anyone cares.

The above setup is for 5 plants, does it seem like enough light to you? Also, do you foresee a problem with using the MH's in the center for a better replication of the Sun's light?

Also, do you think the 55 gallon rez is good for 5 plants? I want to eventually move to 10 plants, and was going to use a separate 55 gallon in order to run two strains in the same room.

Thanks for your time to answer our questions!

1 upgrade to a 1/2 or 1 hp chiller, you will thank me a thousand time over the next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

use 1000 watt hortilux bulbs, no need whatsoever for mh's.... to much heat off those bulbs for minimal gain.

rez is great for 5 plantsbut remember, to set up another res means more chiller, pumps,......

cool tubes are a pain in the ass and if i didnt need them i wouldnt have them. If you can cool with a/c alone then thats the answer, if not then tubes it is. I dont beleive there's much lumen loss anyway, i had a 4 lb'r surrounded by tubes.

good luck and dont forget the pics

IIRC you said you had 7 cool tubes for eval. I don't think I ever saw pix of how you had them, maybe I missed them? Are you running ducting above/below, interconnecting? Rigid duct or flex?

What size/how many fans are you using for them?
