Yes as long as you're talking about a hydro system. I've had good success in hydroton. It has to be thoroughly rinsed and soaked in PH adjusted water before using for best results.

gotta say I love hydroton never wash, clean, rinse, care bout it and works every time.
but perhaps "for best results"....

I am so fucking lazy.
