so its 24hr light when u put the germinated seed in the ground..then switch to 18/6...then to a 12/12?

He said direct light, meaning directly under and close to a light source. 18/6 works well long term for many strains and is fine for any non mature plant. Once they reach maturity (shown gender), 20 or 24 hours of light per day might be necessary if they continue to grow flowers instead of vegetative growth.

I did side by sides and it is significanty different between the 18/6 and 24, plants don't have near the vigor or overall health in 24 as they do in 18/6. When I did it, even the using a 16/8 to conserve HID power did better than the 24 did...root developement is drastically different as well.

I do a 24/0 with T5's for a month,12/12 high hps till the last week,then do a 24/0 for the last week with T'5's for flushing.

24 houres IMO keeps the plant developing its roots more, rather than its foliage. (once again) IMO 24 hours is better for sog growing and 18 for the big individuals. I keep my mothers in 24... But thats more of a temp air flow choice...

I agree entirely. Moms and plants vegging for flower are very different beasts though. I try to keep my moms under 24 hours for the bonsai approach.

24 hours seems to speed up evidence of problems. If my moms show deficiencies or strange behavior I'll switch to 18 hours until it's solved.

I've tried a few ways and found the first few weeks best at 24hours then go to 17/7 for veg.
