With DWC you definitely flower earlier than a soil or even coco grow. Power outages are a problem and if they happen regularly or last for extended periods you may be in for some trouble. In DWC the O2 for the plants is generated by an air pump which needs to be on 24/7.
I tell people to try a half and half setup until you're comfortable. If you are not at the grow site more than once per week I would look into a central reservoir or you'll risk the plants not getting enough nutrient solution. A big plant will need to be topped off twice a week most likely. DWC and hydro plants in general take up so much more water it's crazy. The return? Why giant yields of course
Speaking of giant yields, I don't know what you're looking for out of your room, but I'll tell you I feel confident that if I was back under 1000 watters in 5-10 gallon DWC units I could do a perpetual with 4 DWC big (or stretchy) plants introducing a new plant every 2 weeks and pull down at least 1/2 a pound every other week. The effective footprint on a 1000 HPS is no more than 4.5 feet square.
