With DWC you definitely flower earlier than a soil or even coco grow. Power outages are a problem and if they happen regularly or last for extended periods you may be in for some trouble. In DWC the O2 for the plants is generated by an air pump which needs to be on 24/7.

I tell people to try a half and half setup until you're comfortable. If you are not at the grow site more than once per week I would look into a central reservoir or you'll risk the plants not getting enough nutrient solution. A big plant will need to be topped off twice a week most likely. DWC and hydro plants in general take up so much more water it's crazy. The return? Why giant yields of course

Speaking of giant yields, I don't know what you're looking for out of your room, but I'll tell you I feel confident that if I was back under 1000 watters in 5-10 gallon DWC units I could do a perpetual with 4 DWC big (or stretchy) plants introducing a new plant every 2 weeks and pull down at least 1/2 a pound every other week. The effective footprint on a 1000 HPS is no more than 4.5 feet square.

some time later tonite i will be taking my weekly pix. everything is still running smoothly. i think they are going to be very fast flowering plants.they are showing signs of turning orange already.due to the half gallon pots they are in some are topping over from being top heavy .hope that i dont lose any tops due to the weight.they barely give any smell at all.i hope it turns to be descent smoke.if it doesnt i wont keep running it.this strain doesnt overly impress me as of yet but that can change.i got some proven blubonics in its place just in case. i plan on doing a complete grow and smoke report so anything can happen.on a side note i been observing that even tho the moms are in 5 gallon bags that the half gallon girls arent that far off in yield kinda strange seeing its a 10 time medium difference.dont get me wrong ill get ALOT MORE WEIGHT OF THE BIGGER BAGS BUT NOT 10 TIMES MORE MAYBE 4 OR 5.

im hoping they turn out potent.out of 12 strains i grown VORTEX doesnt seem to stack up to them as of now.its very fast maturing but not too much trich coverage. all those plants came from the 3 moms from one pack.if it doesnt meet my standards i will pass the cuts out to friends.i got a few other seeds i wanna grow out by other breeders so i cant devote all my time to something if it doesnt tickle my fancy.

thanx Mr Green and Purkle for the kudos.some of the girls will yield more then a zip in those small pots.the 3 mothers in 5 gallon will yield 4 zips easy it looks. searched the buds yesterday for any mold and came up with none.so i gotta say since running a dehumidfier last summer i have gone moldless.i havent smoked since before thanxgiving and am going nuts waiting for some to come down lol.i think the first week of the new year will be harvest. looks like most will be done in roughly 50 days. didnt know they were that fast in flowering.they can take nutes at high levels in budding.my next run after this is going to be some of my BLUBONIC from SOL.i always get amazing results from that mom.i plan on trying out JACKSTAR before i decide if ill run anymore of his genetics.honestly between me and my friends who are growing the VORTEX none of us are impressed and we all got a pack each so its not just isolated to one thats a total of 30 seeds.hope the final smokeable product turns out better then it looks.they grow fast and are easy to grow. before anyone jumps down my throat for ragging on VORTEX im doing soil(mg), one friends is doing ebb and flow, the other is doing soil(ocean forrest).ocean forrest grow smells much stronger while the ebb and flow is much more denser while mine are just more a mixture of not as smelly but not as dense kinda in between.all 3 of us are going to do some jackstar for this spring out of 30 seeds.if anyone is curious as to what we use to base upon its BUBBLEGUM,BLUBONIC,MOD MET,TIKKI BELLA CIAO,CHERRY CHUNK,REZ DSD, AND FED ROMULAN.maybe we got spoiled but i love my mother list and gotta compare anything new to it once dried and cured.
