Default Bucket discussion thread

Hola,
I thought I would start a thread here where there could be an open discussion on all bucket designs. Some feel I should defend my bucket designs more. What people do not realize is I want everyone to be able to use these designs. The only problem I have is with people saying they are their designs. People like Under Current who say they have patent pending. There is not one original idea in that system. I do not care if they or others sell a million of them just do not claim it as theirs. I have been making these over 6 years and I stole some ideas from about 4 grow systems who stole some ideas, going back to babalon.
There seems to me there are bad ideas going around so I will bring them up here. I hope others will join in to help clear up any mystery's on bucket designs.
Maybe we can come up with an even better system with the quality of farmers here. Sat Nam Jalisco Kid
May we All have a safe Happy New Year and find that killer strain we all seem to be in search of.

To many patent trolls in the world... I've always really liked the idea behind Creative Commons. Hope you had a nice holiday. Looking forward to the discussion... consider myself subscribed!

In it for the long haul my friend, wanna conduct a little test grow using 2gal dwc bucket, have a few designs in mind, but intend on creating something young or old can produce without too much handyman work, have an uncle recently diagnosed/surgery for prostate cancer and long story short he is old school, plant a seed outside and lets see what we get type, trying to bring him up to speed without too much flack/kickback, thanks for starting a sure "sticky" of a thread, peace SSP

Im very interested in the 18 gal coco grows you mentioned in previous threads JK...

I mean if you can get 4 lbs from a 12 dollar container with 20 bux of coco/perlite/vermiculite in it - why go through all the trouble/expense of rwdc?

It might cost me more in the long run in nutes being as it will be all drip to waste, but I cant think of too many cons...

Gotta say I've got mixed emotions on the whole patent thing as well. Good news is patents arn't intended to stop home gardeners from building a DIY. They are aimed at the Knock Off Artists that want to reverse engineer and mass produce.

Did you guys hear about DD selling his design?

JK...I'd love to see some pics of the original UC style design you're refering to...sounds bad ass.

I love the pics ive seen of your buckets JK. that being said, you might want to consider designing it for a smaller home version. You've got the tree growers ears but the majority of people out there that would buy a system vs making their own are looking for small systems, for around $1000 bucks.

what is the basis of their patent? it cant be rdwc is has to be there bucket design. its like that clown trying to patent bubble hash

Pretty certain it's based on the negatively charged principle vs. other systems that positively pressurize to deliver the nutrient solution to each module. The solution is displaced by negative as opposed to positive flow.

......But with that said it shouldn't be possible to patent anything that could be helpful to someone in need. But I must say that most people with a problem with those who patent ideas are haters...including me. LOL

BTW...where them pics at JK?

Hey JK love reading your threads and comments.

I have a question about my waterfarm buckets and improving them. I know you probably feel the waterfarm is a cheesy system, but it's what I have and I feel like why not make it work as well as possible.

My question is do you think an airstone in each waterfarm would improve yield? Theres only about a gallon or so of solution in each bucket, although i do keep my water level higher than the recommended level.

I wonder if TK has ever tried this I know he runs the waterfarms from time to time...

Appreciate any thoughts you might have
