Growing under a green mesh
Hello there. Thing is i've got an empty alberca. This is like a pool 30x15x6 feet used for storing waters in the mountains of southern Spain. Now, it's very well located but for a chopper airbase for fire prevention not far from it, and as it happens i can see sometimes the pilot, so i guess he could see the plants from that privileged view and go and mention it to the cops. So i've got to cover them somehow. It's quite normal to put something on top of those albercas for keeping them clean from leaves and that, and that's my question. I was thinking to put a green mesh as the ones used for collecting olives, as it allows the light through, although don't know if that's enough. Any ideas or advice on the colour? The exposition to the sun is total, from dawn to dusk, and it gets hot too.

Thanks for that, Softdrugbaron, i'll think i'll go ahead with it. I also think green mesh should be less conspicuous for prying eyes, as they're everywhere (both, meshes and prying eyes). Some of them plants have to stay there up until december, so i've got to plan well ahead as the design relies on me and my knowledge's still too limited for bigger plots. Basically i'll do it with a homemade water-dripping system I'll use 40 ltr pots and will put as many as we can, it will make a nice green canopy anyway, hopefully with stinking buds an' all. G'day to you

I knew i was in the right place, thanx a lot Aqualab for that link, now i know what i want much better. It says that the mesh i thought of lets just 30% of sunlight in. However, i've found one in a local shop with 5 inch stripes in green and white, (3 euros lineal metre ) : and i guess that'll improve the light intake. Also because of the likely poorer quality, maybe it lets even more light than the one in that page. Green and white stripes are also the colours of the flag of Andalucia. Now the pilots will go "there lives a patriot" and maybe salute away when flying low. I'll get myself a captain's cap to fill the role. I call that good camouflage. Hope the pilots aren't reading this...

And you're correct, but then again, putting a mesh on top of these albercas is very common around here, whereas leaving it in the open would look like a bullseye from the air as most things are brownish around there. The alberca also is made of grey concrete and totally open to the sun, which might refract (is that a word?) the heat, needing shade anyway.
I've heard of this Hortitec, will have a look if i can get into the page, although Valencia is far from here. They sell everywhere here, as it's used for all collections of olives, figs and almonds, but qualities are not too contrasted, most people uses the often one and only on offer. I donīt want it to break under a storm or something.

As a small grower in England using my back garden, camouflage is an issue for me. At the moment my 2 skunk plants look just like dahlias in their pots, but as they grow bigger I am intending to train them against the fence. I am now convinced that if blended with another plant of identical colour and a different foliage this is the best possible camouflage i can get. Small uninteresting fake flowers can further disguise the plants, dont make them too impressive though or people will be asking what they are and getting a closer look. Good luck with your crop, we are all trying to be discreet, lets hope its a bumper harvest this year!
Peace and harmony

Ok, it took a while to fix the potting and all. It's a communal garden but i'm the idiot of the group :p. They're doing ok under a thin green mesh i've found unused in a hut, in the picture wasn't properly fixed, but now it is. You get ak47, g13xhp, silver haze, lovepotion and ww, none of them should be there after october, so maybe the silverhaze will be chopped early, but they're only 2 or 3 of 'em..
Some of the plants are re-vegging and others are late clones, had a lot to do and finished it running against time. It won't be long before they start flowering again, so i'm not expecting big plants at all, but thick stinky buds a-plenty if possible, thankyouverymuch, mr Fate. So far i've been feeding them with transplants, will add some guano, enzymes, delta-9 from cannabiogen and little else if anything.
As for pest control, nothing that comes packed. You think i'm doomed or just crazy? Maybe, but so far everytime i start using a product i end up using one hundred and nothing completely works, so i'm introducing predators such as mantis. There's only one so far, and some ladybirds, but i expect to house more, all local fauna. That and patient eyes and fingers and brushes and some thropical witchcraft.
I don't know if it will be enough camouflage, but now i'm going to put a few plastic flowers for the sake of choppers, i told ya i was the idiot of the group, bloody hippies mostly. I should hang around only with girls.
