Here are a few shots of the progression so far in my backyard. This year we tried something a little different and went for an all coco approach. The Matanuska Valley Thunderfuck and C-99 are in whiskey casks (~35-40 gallons) with the bottoms sawed out, and another 40-50 gallons of medium below, in ground. Chem 4, Blueberry, and Chem '91 are in 15 gallon containers. A 707 Headband Diesel went in alongside them, but she is in the ground (buried in my old compost pile). This is coco, worm castings, and bat guano (and a little lime, greensand, and kelp meal).
MVTF and C-99 went in late May, and the others mid-June. There isn't enough space between the four to maximize yield, but I think it'll all work out just fine for my needs. Hope everyone's season is going as well as mine so far! May Prep Mid-June Planting Chem 4 (left), 707 (right), Blueberry (right, background), and Chem '91 (left, background) Garden Today C-99 Today |

Nice garden LP ! Very promising.
Can you explain the structures for a tarp that you have installed? Is it commercially available or is it home made? It looks like bent pvc pipes to me. I'd like to build/buy a plastic tunnel for my plants for our usually rainy months of september/october, and I'm looking for the cheapest option. Any suggestions ? Nice dog too h |

Thanks for the kind comments. Beautiful dog hanuman! Not much I do without my four-legged friend. The cover is what you thought, just PVC bent into arches. I cut the PVC to the size I wanted and just slid them over 4' sections of rebar hammered half-way into the ground. Low-tech, cheap, and effective. We usually get hammered by rain starting in mid-September, continuing through early ... June.
Poorwhitefarmer, always good to have the Oregon contingent on hand! I'm getting rained on this morning??? WTF is going on here? Did I smoke too much Sno-Bud and sleep through August? I'll be tuning in to your elevation grow, that's something I've always wanted to do--very cool. Pender, I'm running out of space to chill in the backyard, but you won't hear me complain Ripp, thanks for checkin' in. I'll have more pictures as they get seriously floral. |
