Alright my setup is pretty small. 400watt T-5 veg and 600w HPS w/light mover in bloom. 6 inch vortex fan with filter for exhaust. One 50 watt fan in veg and a cyclone in flower 75watts?
Alright tonight I go inot my bloom room and it smells straight electrical, like burnt wires or such. Check EVERYTHING nothings hot or nothing smells by itself. Should also note that a month and a half ago, I smelled same EXACT thing. Had an old fan so I figured it was it. Replaced it and smell went away. But tonight it was back the exact same thing. Like I stated I'm not running shit on this breaker. Any ideas? Old bulbs make this smell? Usually change 10-12 months this one's a bit older I believe. I'm just baffeled. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. |

alright mate, have you checked your ballast for your 600w light. i had the same thing when i bought a new ballast for one of my 600w lights. turned it on came into the room about an hour later and had the same smell as you described. might not be the case with you but i'd check everything out just incase, as you don't want anything that can cause a fire. hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the replies guys. I woke up at 5am to dark rooms. Plugged cords into different breaker, and everything fired back up. Like I said only 1200-1300 watts total, not even enough to flip a 15amp breaker, but it's an old Apt.
The wires in the walls are fried, finally burnt themselves up, reason i'm pretty sure of this is a 11 watt light plugged into the bathroom wants to flash like a strobe light, like the power is arc-ing across the wires, so I've unplugged everything on those 2 outlets and have made them dead to me. As long as I don't plug anything into them I think all will be well. Unless I smell some wires here in a couple months then it's movin time! |

Wow,,,
I had that burnt electrical smell two grows ago and it was my timer! Worked fine for three grows then out of the blue I walk in to my grow room to the burnt smell. Check every thing and found the burnt and melting timer. Lights were still running but the timer had started melting and there was a burn spot on the back...Kinda freaked me out I'm glad you found the problem before it became a real issue. Grow Safe SDC |

Timers, Cords, Ballasts, anything... should be put out by a good reputable company. I mean I dunno about you, but spending $4 on a timer as compared to $14 should tell you something right off the bat. Cheap equipment is made of cheap components, and cheap components are not reliable. It's always better safe than sorry! |
