Default trimming a flowering plant

i havnt had alot of time to deal with my 400w room lately, and the plants have gone wild!! there at the 3 weeks stage, but have grown to over 5ft already. the main stems have now grown into the light, and are preventing the rest of the plant from getting as much light. would it be ok to chop the top of the plant off so the rest of the plants get more light? or would this do more harm than good?. i figured it would cause the plants to stress, but they are getting stress anyway due to now unstoppable leaf burn

If the tops are really burned they won't grow much bud anyway so I'd chop the burned part, then bend them over and tie them down. With a mature plant you should do it slowly to make sure you don't break the branch or meristem. Cutting tops during flowering will alter your yield greatly but if they're really burned this won't matter much.

Tie them, bend them yes, but I wouldnt chop them personally, it would take a little time to recover which will slow the flowering and delay your harvest. YOu CAN bend and pinch the stems but I'll leave that to someone who has more experience at this method than me. I've tried it and the plant responds and shows little sign of stress....at least thats my limited experience of the method.

Let us know what you do.

don't cut at all, just bend and tie...only when the tops are burnd you should remove that damage ( for later mold probs)....if the leaves are burnd ...you can pinch a few off....

if you bend....squeeze just under a node till it get muchy and then bend ...so you wont cut or harm the stem alot
