Question Vertical system, trimming?

Using an eco-system vertical grow-box, with 2 600w Son T Plus type lamps.

120 clones from Dutch Passion Brainstorm.

4 weeks into flower cycle, hairs have started turning brown, but still alot of fattening up to go...

Some of the lower fan leaves have singed, and the lamps are surrounded by the large leaves, so blocking most of the light getting to the actual flowers.

Does the light need to get to the flowers, or just the leaves?

Is it best to trim the leaves, or leave it be? Will trimming divert energy into plant recovery and foliage production?

I know towards the end of the cycle the leaves start dying off anyway, but no sign of this happening yet.

Any advice appreciated...

Default maybe some help...

hey man, I never used that system myself, but a buddy of mine did for about two years. He then moved onto something else... Anyways, he did take some of the larger bottom ones off.
Its never a bad idea to take off the larger ones, as long if you leave enough leaves on there that u cant see through plants to ur medium. (SOG style). Good luck!

I havent used the same system but have grown in a stadium style and I always trim alot of the big fans off. I even do this when growing tree style. I have heard both sides many many times and still think I get more buds by letting more light into the plant.

Talking

we like to clean up the lowers and on some strains we like to pull the fan leaves to get light to the inner buds

i trim alot of fan leaves in half. light penetration is a problem most growers have without even realizing it. im not one to strip a plant down to buds, you need fans to produce energy in the plant. just make sure the undersides dont get all unmanageable.

On my last grow I did an experiment in which I trimmed some plants and left others untouched. When harvest time came around I noticed I got more dry weight off the untrimmed plant then off the trimmed ones.

The larger fan leaves serve to produce the sugars necessary to make buds as well as THC. Without these sugars the Potency and over-all bud production will be severely affected.

Thats just my opinion from my own experiences.

Good luck!

its really all a matter of preference. this is hy i said just trim a couple of fans, and not even all the way down. just in half or so, in order to provide better penetration. ive only picked this bad habit up since ive begun sog. its worked for me, especially when im trying to cram em all together.ive done side by side comparisons in the past, this works better for me.
