Question Water conditioning at the pet shop

Hello there farmers.I did a thread yesterday about vinegar for ph down,to which i got some crackin answers, thanks due to those that helped me out.Among the advice was that for organics vinegar and lemon juice are fine, but for hydro i would need more ph down.

Thing is though i order online for supplies and i'm not gonna do it just for ph down so i thought i would check out a new large pet shop that had opened[i avoid the growshops for obvious reasons!].They had a great selection of stuff for fish tanks including the ph down and two other bottles which piqued my interest.

The first was called "stress coat" and it was for making tap water safe for fish by getting rid or reducing the chlorine, chloramines, ammonia and heavy metals. The second was called "stress zyme" and was a live bacterial product to enhance the development of the biological cycle in the water. Both products are used at a ratio of 1:8[5ml/38ltr].
Oh and there were some oxygenating tablets that i got for the feed water, and maybe the nft.

These were about 1.99 for 20[i tab in 1 gallon]and the other two were 30ml bottles for 1.25 each. Not cheap but convenient! The ph down was the same price as in the grow shop, but only half the amount. All in all though i'm quite hopefull/excited at these and just wondered what other peoples views were,i'm assuming that if they are good for aquariums/fish that they will be fine for our girls n boys.Any thoughts most welcome, thanks.

Ask for Pond Care pH down in the fish department. Hydrogen peroxide 3% will do you better then those "oxygenating tablets", I use 5mL per 4L if you can find 35% even better

Hey Finalopagos, thanks for your reply.I got some 35% h2o2 but i only use this to sterlise or clean cos it's a no-no with beneficials. If i'm not usings beneficials then it's a great product, although cheaper at the hairdressers wholsaler rather than a grow shop.
Just saw the stuff on the off chance, anything that reduces chlorine % chloramines & heavy metals must be good,i think!lol
The zyme product must do something to help with the micro herd, hopefully,ha haven't got a clue really but it's when u experiment u find things new stuff out.
I'll check the link,thanks man.

I also checked out the stress-coat a while back and found out that it doesn’t actually remove the chlorine and other impurities in the water. There is a binding agent that bonds to the impurities making them insoluble and they sink to the bottom. the stresszyme is also pretty great mostly for making organic teas, also probiotic waste degrader for turtle enclosures are awesome the bacteria help to break down organic material making it readily available to the plants. I also believe it is similar in makeup cannazyme and hygrozyme that help to break down dead root matter.

I'll give it a go PGW,funny u should say that cos i use two 15 ltr buckets to water with and normally just let em stand till the next day or after but when i got this i just put it in 1 bucket, suppose i'll need to do it on clones to get a true reflection, but yeah i'll shout when i know something.
To be honest KJ[wicked nic]i read on ic that the chlorines could be evaporated but that the chloramines would remain, thats why i was so excited to see this product, but if you have already tried it i'll have to bow to your experience, although i'l still give it a try-do u mind me asking how u know? There were some test kits for the 6 major compounds[?] like chlorine, nitric etc but for the full test kit it was £25,and for that kind of money i'd want a small aquarium, only joking but they sure do know how to charge!
I'll have to have a look out for this turtle stuff, the reason why i got the zyme stuff[stuff being a highly technical term used by we scientists!lol] was to help my beneficials[voodoo and bio-plus],thanks for the tip m8.

Just a lil update.
Well at first i thought i'd dropped a right bollcks
cos after watering i returned the next day to find SEVERE burns, like u would expect if u poured a strong acid on your lovely girls/boys.....which is exactly what happened!
I used by accident the remains of some water at the bottom of my can that was for sterilization!
So yes,the products do no harm at least[so long as you don't mix em up with h202].
Pretty pissed really cos 2 jillybeans,2sensistars,1 vortex and some g13hybrids all burnt, only the top shoots and a few side shoots remain, fan leaves are dust.
Will still buy the normal stuff, but if u can't get it for any reason then vinegar/lemon for organic and pond ph[not as strong as nitric or phosphurous[?] down for hydro works great.
so check out them pet shops for some cool products.
