My dumbass got a new timer and didn't remember to set it correctly this morning. Lights came on at right time and cut out about 20 mins in for 20-40 mins. I about shit myself and turned them back on. Was suppose to be day one of bloom today. You think they're good as in no chance of herms? Should they veg a few more days to try to correct things or just flip and forget it?

Na bro! Hermie’s are from stress, repeated issues , one off events are no worries. Just sets you back a few days.

Safe to flip today’. Heck i usually do a day or 2 full on dark before I flip 12/12, speeds it through preflower stage
Never heard of anyone doing that would be too sketched to even try. Makes sense though will look further into a day of dark in between.

Day 1 bloom light fail. No problem don’t stress it. Just get the schedule set. You could wait a day if it makes you feel better. Or turn lights out 24 hrs then pick your lights on time n hook timer then. The extra dark may trigger faster flowering for you. But get the timer set right n the good stuff be coming soon. Don’t stress if it takes up to 2 weeks to see buds clearly too.

One thing you left of your herm list jack is bad genetics and breeding. Not all herms are environmentally or stress or grower induced. it is a genetic trait as well. Bad breeding practice or choice of breeding stock can produce a hermaphroditic plant as well. :D just sayn....……..

and to the OP, jack is correct you should not have any issues with a one time faux pau

Truth there. Good genetics won’t hermie easy. Even when you try to force em to. Some strains due to genetic background are more prone to hermie but usually genetics not a slip in lights is responsible for hermies.

The lack of light is what triggers flowering. There is a plant hormone that is light sensitive. When light hits it, the hormone is destroyed. When you turn the lights off for the 12/12, the hormone levels rise since the lights aren't on and destroying the hormone as much. Once the hormone hits a certain level, the plant switches to flowering instead of vegging.
Auto flowering plants don't rely on photoperiod and typically flower by themselves. FWIW.

Good dedicated breeders are a dying breed...…… (no pun) For starts check out Thunderfudge and exotics lines.

I haven't had to deal with any commercial breeders for years. So I cant speak to the old stand bys. If you get a chance check out mandalas beyond the brain and krystallica, and satori and a few others in Mikes lineup.

Plants do most of their growing when the lights are off. The plant responds by stretching while the light is out. It doesn't really hurt anything but usually results in a few inches of stretching compared to the earlier growth. At least that is my experience with older strains...not sure about the newer ones.

I don't think it's a problem in the lights on period, it's when the lights come on and disturb the dark cycle your more likely to get problems
