ok everyones got there opinion on light movers, mine comes from 1 year usage. at first i thought cool be able to run light lower and hit everywhere. well it does do that but overall i believe that yield is decreased overall. the reasons for this is the lights always moving and confuses the shit out of the plants. imagine really bright sun then low light then really bright sun over and over. another thing happening is in the confusion the plants dont stretch which would be good if you had full blooded sativas, but not with indicas and hybrids that you want to double to triple in size to have big plants. got over 50wpsf so maybe the mover was never needed. whats your guys opinions on this, thanks.....

Damn bro, 50wpsf is more than sufficient... Not sure it was ever needed but for it to decrease yield? Weird...

Is the cycle that the light mover's on adjustable? For just one movement a day?

Just one light? Whats your floor plan?

Good info......
i think im getting same results as you are.... although my indi's stretched lol yield way low
i was thinking 2 600's maybe be better than a 1k on a track
maybe not so much for Sat's but may be ok for Indi's ??

or ditch it all and go Vertical?? what cha guys think?

A mate and i are just starting to collect stuff for a diy light mover project..I think the argument must be how fare the light moves. I bet that a move on 10 cm would be beneficial, because of the slight change in the angel of the light. Now thinking about it, it would just resemble a little wind blowing, like on plants outside..

I have played with light mover's for the last 4 year's.
They are 100% beneficial with small movement's.
IMO with a 1000w it should only move 2 feet. 3 feet max.

ya you cant roll em over a 6 foot stretch or anything. if half your lights are totally shaded half the time then do the math= 1/2 the production, imo. i got 4 600's over 2 4x6ft trays and run my light mover sidways across the 4feet, helping with side lighting,:420: instead of running one less light and running long ways over my trays. i like my mover but its strating to slip a lot. need a new wheel....

I have experience with inline light movers and I haven't seen much benefit. I definitely don't feel they are a negative, but I haven't seen as much benefit as I believe I should.

I myself have ran a circular light mover for almost 5 years now. I love the thing and I highly recommend the circular light movers. I run 3 600hps's on the outside arms and I have a 1k hps slightly off center. My only problem with the SolarRevolution is that the motor burned out, but the company replaced it for free except my shipping cost to get the unit to them.

As for confusing the plants, I don't believe in that hypothesis at all.

One of my setups is 1k light over a 6x4 tray. The light moves a total of 3 feet (1.5 each direction from center).

1k over a 4x4 is probably too much light per sq ft (if you go by 50 watt per sq ft), so a light mover lets to maximize the light efficiency.

The plants on the edges will turn toward the light. Weekly rearrangement of plants have helped yield.

I have been able to push 3 hoods (SS2) with one LR3.5 motor.

dood report. it would make sense too me.that it would decrease in yield. and it cant be good for a plant. like you say. bright light. then dark. also heard reports of hermis. as it gives plant unstable lighting

i had 1k traveled about 3ft ,over a 4x6 area maybe has something to do with hood im using... , i got way better results in a 4x4 tent with same 1k

I may just go vertical , ditch the horizontal and mover...

mover was on strait rail, only moving 1.5ft from center each way. the mover only moves at one speed think 6rpm. which means it covers the 3ft it moves in 1-2 minutes. then you can only adjust them to sit at ends up to 30 seconds max. maybe a circle rail would work better guess it all depends on your room. i guess most people get them to make there footprint bigger but i only got it to drop light closer and figured light sitting on ends a little would make a difference, i was wrong....

Light movers are deffinately one of those bullcrap products sold at hydro stores. Along with T5's, cloning machines, LED lights, and any other new age scamming proucts.

I was planning to use a light mover holding 2 lights over a 4 x 8 canopy. I dont understand how it would be ineffective if they werent moving to far. I would expect and even heard of denser nugs and a even canopy by using it this way.

I always hear about how people use 1000w on a light mover over a 4 x 8 canopy. Now from that I can understand getting bad results.

Like stated above the light mover shouldnt go past 2-3 feet over a 4 x 4 canopy.

I'll go with what one of the top growers here at the Farm thinks of movers and he is the only person I have ever seen to find some true use for movers and that is Texas Kid. He runs them in his mother room where light intensity is not as important other than that use here is the best advice I've been given and if I am not mistaken this quote came from TK.

"save your money and buy another light"

well I didn't listen and wish I had of, ran it a couple cycles and gave it away.

Jusy my personal experiences,

I would like T5s more if someone would sell an aircooled hood for em.
