Clonex contaminated?

I just opened my bottle of clonex and it looks like some white fungus forming on the surface of the gel. I only pour from the bottle into a little shot glass, and never dip directly into the bottle. Its also always stored in the fridge so I'm not sure how it would have been contaminated. Any one have any experience with stuff forming in their clonex?

My last batch of Clonex isn't working right. I've always had great success in the past. This run on clones don't want to root. Think its time to switch to back to the powdered rooting hormone.

Clonex has always worked great for me, and I've always had a close to 100% success rate with it. I'm just a little hesitant on using this bottle with what looks like fungus growing in it. Its pretty much a brand new bottle too, only used once. Heres a little I poured out into a glass

Nope, straight from shop to fridge. I only take it out of the fridge when I'm pouring some out.

Keep that shit out of the fridge. Everytime i've seen
a 'bad' batch of clonex, the one common
demoninator, stored in the fridge after opening.

Had a talk with a hydroshop guy a couple years ago,
he basically said never put it in the fridge

And i would def not use that contaminated gel

i myself lost some clones to bad clonex..my mom & pop hydro store now sells the singel serving packets . i never put clonex in the fridge but seem to me that after you crack the lid, it goes bad in a coupel of months

Dude...use that shit!!!!!!

I got a bottle like that and it rooted better that clonex EVER has.

I took mine back to the hydro store after 20 cuttings and got a new one, thinking it was effed up.

I went back 5 days later wanting to buy the whole case of old shit but they had returned it already...lol.


Just my experience. Try it on a few before you commit, maybe. But I wish it was ALL like that, based on my experience.

I've had clonex in the fridge for almost a year and had it still work fine. I think I'll pick up a new small bottle from the shop and take cuttings using both bottles. That way if its really contaminated, it won't be a total loss.

Could that be some sort of crystallization?

I think it could be some sort of crystallization. Some of of it looks almost granular, but some of it also looks like fungal growth. It seems squishy between the fingers, but that could very well just be the clonex. I picked up a small bottle today so I'll take cuttings and using both bottles and we'll see how it goes. I'm guessing its harmless since I can't think of any way that it could have gotten contaminated. Maybe I'll stop storing it in the fridge.

I suggest you take all your cloning solutions and throw them in the trash and get some dip N grow.
Shit makes roots like nothing else.
