Since this is a medical site hope this is not too far off topic. We all know the benifits of mj both recreationaly and medicaly, for me it there are other factors as well.
I strongly believe in giving our bodies what they need to thrive. If you eat processed, preserved what I call food like substances you cannot possibly achive optimum health. I hardly go to the grocery store, havent bought milk, cheese, bread, fruit, vegies in years. We have our own small farm and choose local organic. When I do go I observe what others are buying, lots of soda. Soda is probaly one of the worst drinks there are. Lots of folks prefer soda over water. I also see foods that are so processed, preserved, containing sugar, salt, geneticaly modified corn and other modified substances. One of the most dangerous substances is High Frutcose corn syrup, just look at ingredents its in almost everything cancer cells actualy thrive on HFCS.
Also I see how so many are on prescribed meds. They got a pill for everything nowdays. Very few of these meds cure, only relive the symptions, if your cured they cant profit from us being sick. Again if you give the body what it needs one can prevent most illness. Raw goat milk is one of the best foods there are. When I see a kid goat born and how it thrives from this incredably natural food that contains live active energy that will nourish help resist health issues. The taste cannot even come close to store bought low fat yuk. The FDA regards raw dairy as posion and has radied suppliers at gunpoint. When milk is pasturized it becomes dead energy no benifits whatsoever.
In my opinion they want us weak and sick. Look here while we do that. The profits from big pharma, Monstntos, modified seeds, are used to buy off USDA, FDA and our politicians to do what these multi national corparations want. Monsanto has ex execs in the FDA and USDA so of course they get there way. Off now to milk goats, with the required hashdube to start my day....:)

I am trying to draw the line between practical living and optimal health, being stuck in the city in the middle of the rat race. If I had some acreage, it would all be different... Some day. I like your post. I was raised on goat's milk, being allergic to the bovine variety as a child. I'd love to have a few of those floppy-eared Nubians- they are great (and fun) animals.

Altitude, that's where CSAs can play a great role for the urbanite who can't homestead or otherwise supplement their diet and nutrition with their own foodstuffs. (CSA = community supported agriculture) I think there's a site called local harvest dot org where you might be able to locate farmers markets and CSAs, etcetera.

Chickenman, I personally don't believe that anyone wants us sick. I believe that they believe that the western pharmaceutical way is the best path towards health and happiness. I believe that people DON'T eat enough beans.

Also, it's not just HFCS that's a problem, it's any fructose, including that produced naturally in fruit. What's the problem? The human body converts fructose to fat almost directly, before using it for energy or anything else. Also, as long as we as a nation continue to consume *all* simple sugars along with high fat and high saturated fat diets, we're going to continue to become sicker and sicker.

Combine those problems with the overall nutrient density of most easily available foodstuffs, and we have a nation of diabetics with heart disease and cancer victims.

Can you make good yogurt with goat's milk? I love good Greek yogurt and sometimes will make my own, but I haven't yet found access to raw milk. However, there was, way back when, a good reason for heavier government control over food production, because many producers were straight up killing people via dangerous practices. Raw milk that's not handled properly is a problem in that regard.

That said, have you read about the town of Sedgewick, Maine?

Yes goats milk makes wonderful yogurt. I totaly agree about the fructose thing, however I believe hfcs containg GMO corn is way worse than in the natural form and I believe for myself as hard as I work my body burns that fat before I become chubby, 55 yrs old 33 inch waist. Just seems to me the way so called health care is wirh all the vaccinations, prescribed drugs, medicare, insurance, Soc Security, all they want is to milk you for every pennythey can get before you die, and if you do die at a younger age better for them not having to pay back what you put in over the years., Thats why we dont have health insurance, our insurance is proper lifestyle and nutrition...CM

YOU work hard. In the meantime America is turning into a nation of diabetics.

No smart parasite kills off its host, but then maybe we're not talking about a smart parasite. Here's the biggest problem for me--the government is US, and so are the corporations.

I am an advocate of vaccinations and vaccination programs. I am not an advocate of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Sorry Sea Madien I just dont buy into all these vacinnation programs these days. Garadsil, swine flu , regular flu, sepsis, the recommendations seem endless. several vaccinations combined in one shot for infants cant be good. Look at the history from the polio vaccine in the 50s and 60s also the recall of the flu vaccine in the 70s. I may get the flu or cold once every 2 yrs at worse. Ingredents in some flu vaccines contain mercury and other really dangerous compounds which would i never even consider. I think most are fooled into over vaccinating by misinformation and fear for profit by big pharma lies...

I think Polio is a good vaccine, though.
There are diseases throughout human history that have killed scores of people. Vaccines for those aren't bad.
Now if there was just a vaccine for ignorance, the States would be greater than they already are.

I agree with ya CJ. Have we ever really been a free country thats of by and for we the people? Think of slavery, back in the day, really not so long when you consider world history. In a way were all slaves to the system that favors multinational corprate intrests for profits over whats best for we the people in this country. I love this land and most of the people are great. I have visited and lived in other countries including visiting Egypt and all folks for the most part just want to live peacefully. Its the Govts that start the shit, not us little folk
When I hear of the war on terror I question our own country who terrorized the indian nation that was here long before we came. I cringe at the thought that we are the only country to use nuclear weapons against innocent civilians not once but twice. iam sadded to think about innocent lives that are taken in these seemingly endless wars that daily kill 90 to 250 civilians each and every day. So whos the real terrorist organization? Makes me wonder..All this will drive one nuts, so I try to make my own world a peaceful wonderful loving place and maybe someday by example others will realize we dont have to hate fear or be afraid because positive loving energy is stronger than fear and hate...Thats my thought gor this afternoon, right or wrong it feels pretty good to ramble on a bit!!:lock: Thanks all Peace CM

I agree with Chickenman. It is really sad to think of how little of a say we have in the way our country is run. If we had a say, would cannabis ever have been illegal in the first place? Wouldn't it be legal again by now? It is scary to think about, but I would be pretty surprised if when "big brother" runs out of all other options, we don't see martial law or some form of it. I hate to be a negative person and try to be as peaceful and respectful of other people's rights, but my government leaves me little choice. I refuse to sit back and wait for the day empty-handed. I encourage nothing but peace and love for my fellow man and women, but no one will tell me how to live my life as long as I don't hurt anyone.

As recently as the turn of the 20th century one in four children didn't make it to age 5. That ended directly as a result of vaccination programs. In those countries where vaccinations are not a regular part of medical treatment children still die of what are now considered in the US to be harmless childhood diseases. Measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, polio, influenza, they all took huge numbers of children. The mercury in the flu vaccines has a negligible effect, children are not taking those vaccines daily. Also, any hint of autism being linked to mercury has now been completely disproven.

Don't get me wrong, I am totally into being more whole and holistic, but again, I will not advocate throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Nor can I countenance accusations and blame without taking some personal responsibility. But if we as a nation stopped our vaccination programs then we would again begin experiencing childhood mortality rates similar to what was experienced just in my own grandparents' lifetime. I don't want to see that, I can't stand to see children suffer.

Who comprises the government? Faceless chickens? No, my friend, it's people. People we may or may not know, people with faces, with families, with feelings. WE are the government. The problem with the government is that we are also the United
States of Amnesia and Apathy, we just don't care enough to be bothered. On the whole, we can hardly be bothered to vote, let alone know and understand what we're voting on (outside of the advertising so many like to have spoon-fed to them).

But I couldn't disagree with you more about government. Why? I tried to become government (ran for a local seat). I'm a person. Stick me and I bleed. I have feelings and a family. I could have been government, too.
