I always plant my seed directly to soil after a water soak and give them immediate light. Helps the seed to orient. The light will be diffuse since the seed is below the soil.

Many of us agree Spinosad, tortures and kills thrips. Must be applied more than once, best 5 days apart to kill total cycle. Monterey Garden Insect Spray works great!!!!!!!

You can expect variable potency from hazes. Get the correct pheno and you'll see the diff.

It's a myth that FFOF is too hot for seeds/seedlings. Even Blueberry loved the FFOF. i germ everything from 24hour water soak straight to FFOF, never a problem.
