DIY Aerospring: Parts List

To build your own DIY Aerospring, you will need the following components:
  • Reservoir
  • Net cups
  • 1/2" threaded PVC "T" Fitting
  • 1/2" PVC Pipe
  • Weather Stripping
  • Pump
  • Misters or sprayers
  • Clamps
  • 1/2" adapter (to connect to one end of the tubing and the other to a hose for easy draining)
  • 1/2" End Cap
  • A barbed adapter (with a 1/2" threaded side to go into the PVC T fitting and a fitting for the pump tube)
  • A drill bit (for your misters and sprayers)
  • Two hole saws: 1/2" for the PVC holes and another sized for your net cups

DIY Aerospring: Assembly Instructions

  1. Cut two 1/2" PVC pieces slightly longer than your reservoir's length. Attach the threaded PVC fitting in the middle, as shown in the diagram.
  2. Drill two 1/2" holes at each end of the PVC pipe for the end cap and hose adapter. Attach the end cap on one side and the hose adapter on the other.
  3. Drill holes for misters/sprayers in the PVC pipe: one in the middle of the T fitting and two at each end. If you have more misters, space them evenly.
  4. Wrap the bottom of the misters with Teflon tape and screw them into the drilled holes, ensuring a snug fit.
  5. Attach the barbed adapter to the T fitting and connect the tubing. Place the pump in the reservoir and connect the other end of the tube to the pump.
  6. Create a level line for nutrient monitoring using a 1/2" tube grommet, a 1/2" barbed "L" fitting, a clamp, and tubing. Drill a hole near the reservoir's bottom and another through the handle.
  7. Insert the grommet into the bottom hole and the "L" fitting through it. Connect the tubing and thread it through the handle hole for support. Seal the connection with silicone and Teflon tape.
  8. Apply weather stripping along the reservoir's top edge, avoiding the handles. Silicone can be found at pet supply stores, while Teflon tape is available at home improvement stores.
The DIY Aerospring system allows you to enjoy the benefits of aeroponic gardening with a customized setup. With these instructions, you can quickly assemble your own system and start growing your favorite plants.
