How to Determine When to Replace Your Lamps

Lamp lifespan and replacement times can vary depending on the type of lamp you have and how often you use it. This guide will help you understand when to replace your lamps based on 18 hours of daily usage.

Metal Halide Lamps

Metal Halide (MH) lamps come in different wattages and types, each with varying lifespans. Here's a breakdown of when to replace your MH lamps:

1000W Metal Halide Lamps

  • Standard 1000W MH Lamps: Replace after 12 months
  • 1000W Agro Sun & Warm Deluxe MH Lamps: Replace after 15 months
  • 1000W U Cool Deluxe 6500K MH Lamps: Replace after 12 months

400W Metal Halide Lamps

  • Standard 400W MH Lamps: Replace after 18 months
  • 400W U Cool Deluxe 6500K MH Lamps: Replace after 15 months

Additional Metal Halide Lamps

  • 250W U Cool Deluxe 5400K MH Lamps: Replace after 12 months
  • 175W Daylight Bulb 5500K MH Lamps: Replace after 15 months
  • Regular 75W to 250W MH Lamps: Replace after 15 months

High-Pressure Sodium Lamps

For High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps, replace them after 24 months. However, the Son Agro and Super Agro varieties should be replaced after 15 months.

Fluorescent Lamps

Fluorescent lamps typically need replacement every 15 months. If you have multiple tubes running on a single ballast, check them after 12 months, and remember to replace all fluorescent tubes simultaneously.

Tracking Your Lamp's Lifespan

To ensure optimal results, it's important to keep track of your lamp's lifespan. Note the date when you start using a new High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp so you can determine the best time for replacement.

By following these recommendations, you'll be able to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of your lamps, ensuring the best possible lighting for your needs.
