Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

Patio experiment is unfortunately over, due to heat and wind challenges. It’s only been mid 70s, with most days sunny and windy, but the patio surface is already radiating too much heat for the roots. The wind is also stronger up there, and a couple days were basically a non-stop hair dryer on...

Intro From A Solo Medical Grower

Normally two subjects I avoid completely, but if my plants need help, I’ll do anything. I’m more knowledgeable about sprinkles, though...

Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

Both Trainwreck beans popped through the soil last night, but TW #1 had the shell and membrane hooped around the cotyledons, preventing them from opening. I dislike messing with seedlings, but it was still wrapped around by late morning, and I could see the true leaves developing inside the...

Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

Right on! Thank you for the advice, kansabis! I’m glad I didn’t do anything about it yet, though I admit I’ve been thinking about it constantly. My normal reaction to unknown plant events is to spaz out and immediately try, usually in vain, to fix things. Glad I held back this time. I’ll keep a...

Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

Just noticed Kosher White has some purple/red appearing on the leaves that wasn’t there last night. Plant is looking healthy and solid, but I wonder if it’s a nutrient deficiency already, maybe phosphorus. I did water it yesterday evening with purified water so also wondering if that is related...

Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

Trainwreck 1 & 2 seeds were just removed from water, sown into clear solo cups of RO micro-greens mix, then placed onto heat mat next to Cookie Monster. Freezer size baggy dome fits great over two cups. Including pics of seed packs as well for verification. Apologies for incorrect months in...

Patio Grow - Kosher White, Cookie Monster, Trainwreck

[I posted the start of this grow diary in the wrong forum topic, so I’m correcting my foolish newbie mistake by creating one in the proper Grow Diaries section] Details - Seeds: Kosher White x 1, Cookie Monster x 2, Trainwreck x 2 Mediums: Roots Organics micro-greens seedling mix, Fox Farms...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Even though it’s an indoor reader, I wanted to keep track of environmental conditions up on the patio for future outdoor grows. It’s 16ft up, and gets more wind and moisture at nighttime from the nearby ocean than down on the ground seems to. The morning clouds haven’t burned off yet today, so...

Intro From A Solo Medical Grower

Right on - thanks Dan789! DemonTrich is already guiding me towards better practices for seedling stage. Just hope I don’t tire folks out making too many mistakes that need correcting...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Right on. This is my first outdoor grow, so I’m admittedly a bit more paranoid than normal because I can’t control factors as much as I can in my tent (about 2-3 years grow experience indoors). I’ve germinated seedlings with humidity domes in my tent before, but I thought the open coastal air...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

I got it a bit closer to 1” from new leaves...not quite there, but definitely an improvement... Not to bogart too much of your time today, DemonTrich, but about the plastic baggies...I’ve strayed away from adding any humidity during seedling stage because I’m in a coastal area and always...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Oh...even higher up the stem? I can get a bit more in there, but not sure I could get enough for 1” below the new leaves. I’ll go try as much more as I can get in. But now I totally see why you do half cups of soil to start...taller seedlings like this one might need a a lot of soil added...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Thanks again, DemonTrich! Soil was getting a bit dry, so timing was great to add soil then water down. Looks more like a stable, solid planting now. Just hope my fat fingers didn’t knock the seedling around too much while I was spreading the soil.

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Thank you DemonTrich! I was genuinely wondering about that...never had to add soil to a solo cup before, honestly. I’m so paranoid about doing anything around seedlings, mainly cause I’m clumsy. But I’d rather go without that support chopstick cause the stem really does seem sturdy enough of its...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Stem isn’t bending in the breeze, but was leaning a bit much for my liking. Not the best support ever made, but should do ok during the solo cup phase...

Bagseed Of Kosher White Out On Patio

Welcome to my first outdoor grow journal! Outdoor growing for me is for fun and experiments, kept well separated from the others so I don’t contaminate my tent environment. This one was started from a seed found in a dispensary purchased eighth a couple months ago that was labeled Kosher White...

Intro From A Solo Medical Grower

Greetings to all. I grow medicine for myself, and thought I’d stop lurking and join so I can both share my experiences and increase my skills from “fairly knowledgeable” to hopefully near the “all-knowing guru” levels of many on this site. I’m committed to the decades of work it’ll take to get...
