Decided I would start a feed on my 2018 grow. I live in the North East and we have a some what difficult season for cannabis when compared to so many other places. I have grown on and off for around 20 years, and I can say I have become more inventive the last few years. I will be moving most of these to my secret gardens in the next couple weeks. Currently they sit under large quantum board setups in 4x4 and 4x5 tents.

My phone broke around Aug last year and I hadn’t backed it up, so I only have shots starting Aug 9. I wanted to show side by side since last year was a super late start.

A couple of things I will be doing this year aside from more LST and possibly some outdoor scrOG is introducing my newest creation. I developed it last year, tested it and proved it works.
Introducing the Slug Wall
Make your plants great again by preventing unwanted slugs from entering! (Lmfao yes it’s a play on dumps)
Really though what I have developed is an easy to assemble diy organic non chemical “barrier” that will stop and kill slugs that attempt to eat your plants. I will post a description on the principles and how to assemble. It’s so easy, and for me in my climate, is a must have. Do other people have this issue?

Slugs are highly susceptible to electrical current. And it turns out it doesn’t take much. I have refined it several times and this is what I suggest doing, although you can make this work in many different ways. It all depends on what your growing in for how you will set up your slug wall. You can take these principles and refine them so they work for you. I have a very simple version I will give, but there are more complex variations I can give examples of. For this example; I have a number of 50gal plastic drums that I have saved and these are what I will use as my example. You could do the same with a bucket or even build one on a raised bed design. And ways I take the plastic drum and I cut the top off. I then go down about 4-6 inches and I cut around the drum. So the top 4-6 inches is removed, in a perfect ring. This ring can be place over a plant so it sits on the ground with the plant or container sits inside. I mentioned electrical current, well don’t worry this is safe. It’s low low low current and doesn’t poise any health risks to humans or pets unless you have a pet slug. Around the outside of the ring cut from the drum , about half way up I run automotive double stick panel applicator tape. The stuff holds up well. I then take two long strands of uninsulated copper wire and run them next to each other around the ring on the double sided tape, leavening 1/8-1/4 inch between the wires. You need to leave about 6 inches of wire hanging off each end of each wire. I attached the top wire and leave a 4” lead and do the same with the bottom. I then take a 9v battery and attach the top wire to the positive and the bottom wire to the negative. When the slugs start to cross the second wire, still touching the first they get electrocuted. The resin his works so well is once it dries, it’s slimy body changes and it no longer works as a conductor, so the battery stops discharging and can work on the next slug that tries to pass.

That’s the simplest way I can lay it down with out drawings. The more advanced “gorilla grow” version I have takes the cheap night time path lights, and you just open it up, hook the feed to the led to your “slug wall” and then it will not only keep the battery charged all season, but t will also only come on at night- slugs are nocturnal after all.

Let me know if you have questions, and I’ll try and upload some photos. My experience includes setting up a fish tank last year and test this along with several other “wives tales” to see what worked.

thanks for the info. i guess if i had an old car battery [12v] i would be able to hook up multiple buckets at once? or would this be too much power - alot more amps in a car battery than a 9v.i will have to experiment.

9v is all you need and keeps it safe. A 9v battery holder and leads in a couple bucks on amazon.

If you watch with tune lapse you can see them get shocked and pull back. But it’s not enough for most and they will get themselves Latched on. Beer in a bottle , or cup works but it can attract more slugs to your area that may miss the beer and find your plants. Copper wire- doesn’t work unless electrified, crushed egg shells- doesn’t work, slug bait will kill them and other animals as well- bad stuff. Slug wall stops and kills those who refuse to retreat.

Slugs get after my veggie garden every year, although haven’t messed with my cannabis luckily. They are very frustrating though. Thanks for tips!

It takes me about 2 hours per 20 plants, which isn’t bad when you figure 6 min per plant for both inspection and training. I can’t wait to get these in 15 gal fabric bags and air pots and get them outside.

I’ve got the same SensorPush temp/humidity sensors! They are awesome. Pricey, but valuable in what they provide.

Was gone for a few days, you could say they might have had a slight drought.

Waiting for my nutrients and supplies still, so aside from microbe feeding the soil, and some silica blast they haven’t been fed enough. Had a couple hours so I managed to get a few transplanted and transported to one of my sites. This one has been years in the making. I always throw temp fencing up at the beginning of the season. Anything that can help push away unwanted visitors is always great.

This site isn’t huge but it gets great sun

The first set that I put out is in 15g fabric bags. I will add a little dressing to the top of the soil and then cover all but a few inches around the main stall with straw.

We had some crazy weather last September and I made an emergency green house. It was pretty spectacular really. Doing it all solo was more than I realized, but after cutting the trees and getting the holes dug the real work began lol. Anyone else ever had to do this?

What size pots are you using

Currently I have 20 in 15g fabric pots. Then some 12g nursery pots, as well as some 7g fabric pots. In the past I have averaged .5-.75lbs per in the 7g fabric pots. I will have a few more variations of containers. Including air pots. Want to see how much the yield varies...
