airlift is the easiest way to pump water up in a hose. it only needs an air pump (which is much easier to handle than water pump).
My problem is that I need to pump my water about 10 cm up, but I don't have 10 cm of depth in my water.
does anyone know exactly how air pump work? can I solve my problem?

its called a ventura drip ring and works for constant sputtering over hydroton and not many other uses..., if you have a timer already, get a water pump :) its reliable. what kind of setup are you trying to do?

I don't think so. please look google "airlift pump diagram".
I am trying to build the smallest system possible. (hopefully to be small enough to fit IKEA KALLAX in 2 boxes only).
water pump is problematic in those small places.

do you think it is OK to sputter my coco 24/7 ?

I know what you are talking about. but you dont need a constant feed.
you need to water your plants to runoff 2x a day. tops.

what do you think you are going to grow in 2 ikea boxes, succulents?

last time I checked a water pump is the same size as an air pump. if you are trying to move water. the easiest way to move it is... dun duh duh duh daaaahh! a water pump.
