I have a 40gal tote I'm letting my soil cook in. It's not an air sealed container. Is this ok for cooking? Should I make holes in the sides, top or bottom for aeration?

just put a few small holes in bottom of the can were condensation will go threw the soil, about once a week stir it up,every time i stir mine i put just a small handful of oat meal on top and stir it in,gives it a bit more life,if your concerned with bugs coming in bottom, just dont use bottom 2 or 3 inchs, depending on were you live its a good time to introduce nemotodes, but that how i cook my soil and during winter months when it gonna frezze i spread the soil out on a tarp and let nature kill off any larvae that might or might not be there,i just used up my last 20 gal of soil and need to get more going myself, thanks for reminding me
