Pics coming. Was going to do MPB decided to go this way.

Not sure about the GH in this system....but for sure House & Garden, Canna , & Dutch Master seem to be common favorites...with a few others being used as well.......
Looking forward to pics....what strain/s you plan on running?

+1 what freddy said

Just started my first UC and went with Dutch Masters - Im a long time GH user but so far I really like the DM - all you will need is grow a/b, bloom a/b and zone and then its "welcome to easy street"

Sounds cool, Dutch Master Gold A + B workes great in the Under Current System as well as Ionic bloom + Ionic boost. Stay away from the thicker organic ferts, they tend to clog tubes.

hey mrenz999, looks good!
how was your experience with uniseals and the 27 gal. totes? some have reported difficulties and leaks. it looks like you're using 3" pvc.

regarding nutes, you might check out this thread:

No leaks. A little tough to get the pipe through but otherwise no problems.

Nice setup, I've been planning one very similar. You say 9 lights 8 plants but your drawing shows 8 lights 7 plants? Where are the extra plants and lights going?

Also, how are you planning on evening out your flow through the cool tubes?

Control Box

This is the corrected layout. I have the water leaving my control box on both sides
to the 2 outer rows. The middle row is the return. So at the middle plant there is
a 3" to 3/4" with a pump attached pulling water back to the control box.

On the cool tubes I have an 8" fan that pulls air from outside and an 8"
on the other end that blows back underneath my house. Just for the winter.
Nice heated floors :) :)
Summer will change that to use ac.

"manifold"

This is a picture of the end of my center row that is attached to
the pump. There is great flow through all of the buckets.
I am using a larger than advised pump because I am using larger
buckets, 3" pipes, and there is a lot longer run between buckets.

Anyone have suggestions on pump size ? I am getting high temps in my res. Assuming it is because I went really high on the pump size.

how big is your pump? whats your res temp and room temps?

with the 8 gal UC size they say 50 gallons through each module every hour

too much flow will suck the roots through the PVC

your system has so much more volume of water though

figure mine is moving just over 5 times the volume of each module (50 gph) but you would need to move about 125 gph to be online with that and it seems like thats too much

again you dont want a lot of suction between units - sorry if I just confused the situation

thought you had your pump size listed but I didnt see it

The pump I have is 1850 gph. Room temp is staying around 78 and res temp around 70. Usually just below. I am using 27 gallon buckets with 3" pipes.
Also, and not sure if it makes a difference, I have 24" between buckets. So a longer run than most. So that is why I figured the larger pump was in order.

70 isnt so bad really

your pump seems like it may be a bit overkill

whats the movement like in between buckets - is there major suction or a nice steady gentle flow?

I switched to a 1500 and I would say gentle flow. Not rushing for sure. I thought for some
reason that you wanted to res temp to be lower 60's if you could. For sure below 70.

under 70 is fine - 72 is where issues can start

I always kept my res at 68 in my reg hydro

I think below 65 could stunt root growth

After looking around I'm noticing people keeping the res temp in the lower 60's. What is the recommended temp for the res ?
