Not a question just gonna do a comparison of them all.Been wanting to do this for a while.I built a new building and the Flower room is complete so I'm getting everything set up.Running all clones.Ill mix up the clones under each light setup to see the differences if any and the lights im using is as close as i can get it for wattage. The HPS are 1000 Watt single ended which is probably close to a 750 to 800 DE so they will be 1000W
The CMH will be 630 watts,2 315'sand the LED is 750 watts of COBS.15 cobs total.

Each will be setup over a 4x5 in DWC so no mix ups in nutrients or lockouts. The lights will be the only factor that separates them.Gonna do a 5 week VEG and than flip.ill be running CO2 also.
One of the hoods im gonna run a Metal Halide 5000K 1000W bulb and the other 1000W HPS bulb.Just to see if running an HPS from the beginning or the HID will make any difference. After I switch to flower ill put the HPS in the hood and run both HPS from there out.
I know the wattages are not all identical but feel they are pretty close comparisons for what people prefer for 1000W equivalent setups.
I can already tell you this much. The 500 watts of COB Led is the brightest shit over the totes right now.
Another thing i have a LUX meter app and the 600W MH is getting owned by the 315 CMH.
i can put the meter under the MH and get readings from 25,000 to 42,000
Under the CMH with half the wattages im getting from 26,000 to 60,000.I always try and get over 28,000 to 45,000 for these size plants and on through the grow seems to be the sweet spot.
So without further due ill get this thing started.Ill keep it updated and post final weight results and grams per watts ETC .

Yeah man its 16x15 feet with a 24K mini split,RO system and CO2 controller.I built it specifically for this purpose.Has an exterior door on the inside that seals the room nice.I can get the CO2 ppm up to 1000 just breathing in the room come back an hr later and it only drop down to like 980.
I went through alot to seal it all up,moisture proof sheetrock, plywood ceilings to screw my fixtures in wherever i need them, several 30 amp outlets and everyone of them has a purpose.Bright as fuck painted walls with elastomeric.I put alot of thought into. The Veg room is next to this one but im still working on it.Will have 27 4 gallon buckets for starting plants.

That 2 ton should be perfect size for that room I love mini splits.

  5. Will be interesting to see how it progresses and the results

  9. Have they improved the bulbs for flowering? I had been reading that they fell behind the hps in flowering but showed a little more resin production. Am I wrong? Just so I know. Really thinking of picking up a few to see. Have u tried the 1000 watt cmh?

My CMH kills the HPS in flower, anyone still using HPS lights is sleeping under a rock

  12. I tell u that rock is heavy. Been trying to roll it over for years.lol I’m still rocking the DE’s but I like them.
And don’t get me wrong @logic im not knocking cmh’s. I ask because I am seriously considering buying quite a few, if there doesn’t seem to be any real downsides. And the only however slightly negative thing I heard was what I had mentioned.

If you like cmh you'll love the cobs.i was on the fence cause I already knew the hps was pretty much obsolete but after 1 run of the cobs I was sold.
Like I already stated my 315w cmh is putting out more par than a 600 watt metal halide.
These results will be interesting for sure.there will be 2 clones of each strain under each light group.
Ghost OG,starfighter and Scott's OG are the contenders.

What is interesting to me is when I do research on this issue (like searching for LED vs HID) I find many websites that look like they have some good data but when you get to the end you find they are selling a particular technology and their data basically says that everything about their lights is better. Well, what would we expect. Have seen almost no peer reviewed papers that aren't sponsored by people who are '"selling" something. I just cant find any data that isn't biased. We need side by side testing with good controls and the only way to do that is to do it ourselves and try to keep any bias out of our work.

If I had a large enough grow facility I would do a side by side as well from clone to harvest cause I am curious as hell about the answer and it would be best to have several testers doing the same experiment with the same clones, environmental controls, nutes etc. If the answer is CMH is best or LED is best I am ok with whatever the answer is but I hate all the damn myths that get propagated through the growing population by gadget sales people like "light penetration" for example.

Rock on, I can't wait to see the results.

Having a gassing off issue with the new room.Trying to get it figured out.I moved them into the new room and issues started.Plants look over watered and not enough o2 but there is plenty of air in the totes.I started with 4 stones per tote and 70L per minute compressors and thought that might be the problem.Added 2 more air pumps and stones but the issue is still there.I noticed i spent alot of time in the room day before and the plants last night looked a little better.
I this morning they went back to shit as i only spent an hr in there yesterday so im thinking it has to be Not enough co2.I checked the room co2 after empty for an hour and it was down to 150ppm.
I went and filled the bottle today so ill start them on that and see if it fixes the problem. This room is completely sealed up tight.
If not ill have to resort to a timer and do an air exchange every hour.
Its the only thing left on a long list of shit i checked.Everything else is good.Maybe some funky gas coming off the new paint?
Either way ill figure it out.

Latex indoor paint? I have repainted walls and floor in my grow without even taking the plants out (water based latex, which really has no latex in it) with no ill effects. Even with the stink of the paint for 4-5 days no issues. Is there something else that could be causing it? I used various brands of indoor paints as well without issue. I prefer flat white for the walls and floor, seems to reflect about as much light as anything else.

Hope you get things in the clear I am anxious to see the progress and comparison.

Yeah it is definitely an atmosphere issue.Everything else is good. Some kind of phantom issue ill have to nail down to figure out with a new room setup.Worst case scenario ill have to do an air exchange for 1 minute every 30 minutes or every hour.Ill keep it updated

  20. Do you have a burner in the room or is it bottled?I have had issues just like that with a burner,it was causing to much Ethylene. You are on the right track with adding fresh air until you figure it out for sure.
