Irrigation System Question

So I ordered everything to setup an irrigation system in my grow room. I have 28 plants and it’s a lot of ph balancing 8 gallons of water every 2-3 days so I decided to do a plastic 55 gallon drum and irrigation system. My question is how do you keep stuff from growing in the 55 gallon drum of water? Thanks

Make sure the light doesn't get to it water+nutes+light=algae

Instead of stones get a low pressure pump @ ~ 450-700 gph, put a riser on it to clear the water line and run the pump on a timer to minimize heat build up. You may need to aim the riser outlet down using a couple elbows so it all goes directly back into the rez
