Is There An Alarm For Lighting Failure?

Discussion in 'Growroom Design & Setup' started by Shawnery, Jul 11, 2018.

  1. I've read a number of times about lighting failure or timer failure. I was wondering if there is some sort of photosensitive wireless alarm setup for this. There's some nice ones for temp and humidity which I would use for the same reason.

Considering how quickly things can go wrong in an indoor grow and specifically in hydroponics I thought it would be good to get wireless warnings. This way you would know immediately if the lights are off or on when they shouldn't be.

  2. I use wireless sensors for temp and humidity, they have alarm settings. If the delta moves too much I know. If some one opens a door or unzips a tent, I know. There are lots of options just have to think outside the box. For me you can learn a lot from temp changes

  3. Sensor push with the wireless router gives me access anytime and almost anywhere

An alarm circuit would be easy to build with just a little research in an electronics circuits handbook or on the web

Arduino or a raspberry pi with a light sensor and a wireless xcvr and some fun with software. It's fairly easy, we have a suite of raspberry pi sensors tracking ph, ppm, light intensity, water levels, water temp, air temp/humidity, canopy height, leak detectors......

I am not an electrical engineer or a software engineer but I figured it out and it is fun to learn about mucrocontrollers. In the near future the whole power system and environmental parameters will be managed by this system. Phase 3 would be auto nute injection and ph adjustment injections.

I put a nest cam in my room works great. Motion censored it sends me a text when ever something changes. Lights on off. I put an oversized temp and humidity meter on a wall before I got an electronic censore. 8C29FECB-5C5A-411B-9720-66B396AB043E.png
  8. How in the world do you maintain those plants?
