Grow Log 9/19/19

My 24x48x60 grow tent. Situated outside my trailer on a covered deck. I have four seedings, 2x Royal Nepal Kush (x Chocolate Diesel), 2x Banana Ice Cream. This is my first year growing the BIC but the RNK I grew last outdoors last year. It's a beautiful plant, huge 2.5' top colas, a superior super intense stupid high, no couch-lock, and only light munchies.

Doing a flush with Fox Farms Sledgehammer. I do these with just water about once a week. I've read we should flush with 4-7x the normal amount of water but I've found 2x works for me in smartpots. I fill a 5'r with a measurement for 10 gal, then follow it with a flush of water until it runs from the bottom for a minute.

The Borg (Two Spot Spider Mites) are back. Checked a few leaves and found a heavy infestation. Drenched them with Azamax right at sundown. Azamax is perfectly safe to spray right up until harvest. I recommend not spraying in the last 2 weeks, but if necessary, 1 week + if cool & overcast, 3-4 days if warm & sunny. I've noticed the smell burn off in only a couple very hot days but it could hang in the flowers. Over the next 3-8 weeks they will be ready to harvest so I have time for a full course of treatments, min 6 days but optimally 10 more days.

Totally baked so going over my last post to make sure it made sense. Still not sure. Ate a couple oatmeal peanut butter cookies made with the butter I cooked a couple months ago. Oh Sh*t!!!, does that stuff get stronger over time???

I - am - ham-errrd!!!

I feel like I got cousin Strawberry's Mina bird from Up In Smoke in my head going, "Wanna get high, wanna get high, wanna get high."

I used 3tbsp of butter to make 9 ridiculously powerful cookies. I have a quart mason jar 2/3 full. I used, I think it was 1.5lbs of 2nd harvest Royal Nepal buds (more couchy than the 1st), 2nd harvest Orange Creamsicle buds & sugar shake, and 2lb of butter to make it.

So I have this super stony butter I couldn't use up in a year and nobody wants any. I'm really trying too. But sh*t man, this sh*t ie strong. I shoulda ate like 1/3 of a cookie.

Soooo, before I rambled on, all baked and sh*t... Does this pic look weird or am I just sh*tty?

Got to love edibles.
Last batch I made had to ask my wife to drive for errands. I was wondering around the stores like a Stoney turtle. Was for a good strong 10 to 12 hours of peak high. Almost too much!

Oh yeah. Been there. This stuff was so intense it wasn't fun. I really will have to try half of one next time. I was thinking there was only 3 tbsp spread through the whole batch, how strong could they possibly be? Guess I found out. Edibles are no joke. If there were to be any marijuana product that should be carefully regulated for dosage, it's edibles. But not by "mg"s. That's stupid. The mg model is based on a standard used by an industry that processes or synthesises compounds using scientists and precision equipment to exacting specifications. It's not feasable or possible for us to do that. We need a system that takes into consideration percentages of specific cannabinoids. For that, the Fed needs to legalise it and start real studies.

When I had my bullion shop I was looking into spectroanalysers, both desk top and handheld, that measured metal content in the surface of a sample. Thought maybe we could run a narrower margin, reducing our risk and at the same time enabling us to give our customers a better payout. With the standard acid tests we could only payout on the primary metal in a piece of jewelry ie, gold, silver, platinum, palladium. It wouldn't make a difference for silver sellers since it's value is much too low for such an expensive type of extraction, but gold jewelry is often mixed with several other precious metals in recoverable %s. 14k white gold isn't usually just mixed with nickel or silver, but depending on the manufacturer, it could have platinum, paladium, and in a big enough melt, rhodium. There usually isn't enough rhodium to bother with since it is mostly plated to give white gold (and expensive silver jewelry) it's mirror shine (why white gold is brighter than gold making it a more expensive and desirable choice). I remember rhodium going well over $10k ozt which made recovery lucrative for a time. Summing up, I did my research into analysers. The handheld ran about $13k, the desk top ran about $30k. I think the devices were programmable and the metals analysis was firmware. I'm betting the same devices could be reprogrammed for cannabis compounds. Since there are more cannabinoids than metals to be analysed and it would take research and specialised coding, I'd expect there to be a bump in price. Still, if they charged $25k any distributer or dispensary could afford one. People without one wouldn't have to worry because they could pay a dispensary a small fee to get an analysis done or visit or an industrious person (such as myself) who invested in one and who undercuts the dispensary. It would create a whole new arm of the industry and take it out of the hands of a few overpriced labs. Even drum up more money for the counties by letting the Dept. Of Weights and Measures have another item other than scales to gouge us $1000+ per user on. Distributers & retailers could still do the gas chromatography but the public could have a cheaper test for homemade edibles under a certain production level, like craft brews. We need the Fed's to pull their heads out so researchers can get on with formal testing of cannabis cannabinoids or analysis is nearly pointless.

My favorite girl, Banana Ice Cream #1

She almost looks obscene, hehe

This is a big 'ol honkin cola. I'll try to get a better pic of it next time.

She's loaded with these beefy suckers! I hope at least one of the BIC beanlings in the tent turn out exactly like this one. My attempt at cloning it was too late. It was to far into bloom and reveg would have taken forever, if they even survived. If one of the Royal Nepal in the tent goes male I'll have these crossed with a thick, stout Kush. Should be some beautiful flowers.

Good pic of BIC#2, can really see how those top colas are getting thick. Not bad with how skinny the lower colas are. They're skinny but few leaves and actually look like they may have more nuggs than than a tufty Indica.

The seedlings are coming along great! I've done that with edibles one too many times hahaha. I don't even mess with them anymore :drunk:. Way too strong for me. I agree there should be a better measurement for edible strength. Many places sell super strong edibles. I don't see why less potent varieties can't be offered for those not needing a knockout. That was an enjoyable and very interesting read about the bullion shop and metal recovery. I see that the flowers are coming along very well and the yield will be LARGE. My Farm Cheese is starting to give off of a somewhat fruity but mostly skuny aroma. Isn't that what you are getting from your Idunnoes?

Yup, the Idunnoes are smewhat skunky but her blooms aren't far along enough yet to get a good sniff. My Banana Crack has a trippy banana diesel fuel smell. My favorite Banana Ice Cream has that awesome Belgian smell.

Grow Log 9/21/18 #1 (indoor)

A little over a week old and starting to get traction as they enter the veg cycle. Will start feeding veg nutes as soon as I can get them. May be another 1.5 weeks and may not need them anymore by then. This soil is fully capable of supporting this cycle so it's not a necessity.

Thanks, and sorry for the delayed reply, have been locked out of my account for the past few days for some reason :(

Good deal, I have been thinking it over more and think I can come up with a good gravity fed system with a selectable dripper for each plant, the wheels will be churning this winter.

And yes, city water so I let it sit at least overnight to hopefully off gas and chlorine that’s in it, and I let my giants and such sit for a day or two, per instruction on the box, do t know if not helps or not, not using a bubbler.

Girls are looking good!

I'm mixing right into a 5'er and pouring them in. Then follow with a nice drench with the aerator wand. I have never let nutes sit... Sh*t, are we 'spose to? Pwaaaahaaahaha! The big tank in the background is for my cousin's house, not my girls. I measure out nutes for 10gal, put em, in the 5'er, dump in the pots, and follow up with the hose. I never measure my water anymore and I only feed about half I'm directed to. So I rarely overfeed. These feeding charts have ridiculous and expensive feeding guidelines. You follow their instructions and your likely to burn the sh*t out of your girls. You definitely don't ever want to mix a two part, or three part mix and let it sit (ie, A+B, A+B+C). Those are separated because certain nutes/minerals/salts solidify when mixed in a suspension. Then they clog hydro feed lines and become unavailable for uptake in soil. Learned that from the Cannabis Encyclopedia when I was trying to find out why manuf. separated them into two/three part nute solutions in the first place. I don't measure water anymore because each of my girls is more/less thirsty than the others.

Oh, sorry. Was stoned and forgot to answer your question. I do know how to feed from the nute tank. First, in case you want to find one, that is a several hundred gallon commercial agricultural pesticide/fertiliser tank. We use a sump pump and a heavy duty hose with an large as possible inside diameter for a good flow rate. On the wand end we attach a water counter. We burn through a lot of meters when feeding. The nutes wreck the little propeller along with the pressure of the sump pump. It's good if you can get a smaller pump, or even better, if they make one with a variable flow rate. We use a snow shovel to churn the mixes through a big hole cut in the top. We use the water counter to calculate 50 gal marks on the tank the first fill. Then we never had to measure a fill again and we could watch the rate at which we're watering from both sides. We did the calculations so we knew exactly what plant we should be on at what point in the tank. Then we could reset the water hose on each plant and we had a point of comparison to make sure we weren't getting off track.

(FYI, Hard to find an aerator that doesn't get plugged by the nutes. We had one that was a capsule shaped metal soaker that eventually clogged beyond cleaning.)

Hope I answered ya.
