I think 4x QB1232's would kill a 3x3 (flower) and 8x QB132's would do ya in a 4x4 in flower..I love mine (4xQB132 and 1x QB288)
QB 1 20 181
QB 132s 1 20 18

I've got a solarstorm 40 which is actually admit 320 w at the wall. I was hoping to use that and 8 qb to cover a 4x8. Enough?

What is the best driver for the qb132? 2 fixtures of 4.

I run my 4 QBq32s on a Meanwell LRS 350-36V 9.5 AMP (PARALLEL) ($28 from Arrow Elect)

If Interested, I picked up 2x Photon Sunboards (same Samsung diodes) for my veg closet.
The dimmer on the little Meanwell sucked, so I got a PWM controller (under $15 on Ebay) and a display (also under $15 on Ebay) to keep me honest..LOL
(this shows them on a cheapo "400" watt driver)

Is there anything to hooking up the pmw controller and display?

If I can do it..anyone can..
4 screw terminals on the PWM control....
2x 12v input and 2x 12v output..1 each positive + and 1 each negative (I labeled mine since I switch things around often (Wago connectors help too).

2 wires from the OUTPUT DC terminals of the PWM controller go to the Lights controller, and the other two DC INPUT wires go back to the Driver. If you add a meter (I do recommend), just put it between the PWM controller and the Light(s).

The PWM simply interrupts the output circuit from driver to light(s).

My directions suck I know, but I can provide pictures later this morning if you wish..:)

Thank you. I'm good enough at doing this type of stuff if I have directions

So any opinions on whether 8 qb132s and 1 solar storm 440 (325 w at the wall) is enough for a 4x8 flowing area?

its not enough light imo.the qb132 were designed for veg in large space or flower in small space so you will need to pack alot more in there or move to the qb 288

is there any advantage to running cob over QBs or mixing them? Are the spectrums close to the same?
yeah the spectrum is quite different,qb 3000k has much more blue than a 3000k cree cob. i built my veg area with a few things in mind, one is that i have used multi colored t5 panels in veg for years with great results so i wanted the colors.secondly i wanted to be able to flower in this room if needed and those cobs give me the power to do this with taller plants.and lastly i added the cobs because i happened to have a decent size pile of them laying around lmao.i coulda done the same area up top with 6 more qb 132 and no cobs but this is what i had on hand to work with.
to answer your first question cob over qb.they both have advantages but if you comaper a qb 132 to a 54v vero the vero wins above 50w and the qb wins at 50w and lower as far as coverage over a space.now that is a week comparison.the qb 288 and really the qb304 spank a cob over pretty much any space at a 1 to 1 replacement, but cost alot more. these are just my opinions and observations from using both

I have those 2 hlg 550s sitting in my shop in boxes now, just trying to figure best way to use each over 4x4 areas. If you look at light tests the weak spots seem to be the corners so i thought throwing a cob in each corner might help but it sounds like it might be fine on its own.
