I've decided to go with x2 QB288's running @ approx 275W for my veg tent / area.. Any pros/cons for 3000k vs 4000k? The tent i'm using to flower will be running my x8 Cree 3590's 3500k in a 3x3 area, FWIW.

Thanks!

I'd go with 4K for veg and 2K7 for flower. Although might be a good idea to put say 2 5K in the flower room for the end of flower but might not make any difference afterall.

Thanks.. I already have the 3500k cree’s running. I originally though I was just going to veg/flower in one tent but was bitten by the grow bug. So now I want separate areas for veg and flower. I’m thinking I’ll go the 4000k. Perhaps eventually replace the cree 3500k’s at some point down the line but for now I’ll get my money’s worth out them!

Thanks toaster!

I just bougt bunch of materials for separate veg and flower. At the moment I'm running a mix of 2K7 and 3K5 for veg and flower but when this run is over Im shutting down and building two separate rooms. In veg I'll be running 4K inly and in flower 2K7 and 4K in 2:1 ratio. That's because my veg will be much smaller and I'll have to veg for a week or two in flower room. Also don't think that mix of spectrums will have any downsides. Might be even smarter to put 5K instead of 4Knin there but like I said I already bought the materials.

A 4k can be used successfully from.seed to chop. See my 4k cmh flower thread for results. A 3k will not work out greatly for vegging.

I am running 2 qb 288(hlg 260 xw) with 4k color in veg and love it. Max output is 285 wtts at the wall.

My 2K7 and 3K5 mix averages out at about 3K and I get along just fine in veg. Plants stay squat and grow at a more then decent rate. Although CHM and LED spectrums differ to some degree.

I'm sold on the 4000k but what would be the cons of a 3000k LED fixture in veg? More stretch?

I'm currently vegging with my 3500k Cree 3590's and it keeps everything fairly short and bushy in veg.

I really wouldn't stress myself so much about spectrums. You'd be better off searching for higher CRI then a perfect spectrum with LED. 3K 80CRI has a red peak at about 600nm where 3K 90CRI has a red peak at about 630nm. That means the whole spectrum is shifted in + and is slightly broader. The blue part however stays the same. At least on the paper. Don't know if that would show on a finished flower though.
