Recently I made my very first purchase with a seed company. I did my research like I would think most do. Checked all the seed companies in my copy of Jorge Cervantes Medical Marijuana Grow Bible and found a few promising companies. But most wanted quite a bit for even regular seeds (non feminized or non automatic). Maybe $10.00 per seed isn't a lot to some of you out there, but to my poor a$$, it's quite a bit! So, I just did what I've done since I started cultivating for my Wife and growing her medicine; I kept searching the internet. I came across TSSC and found a lot about them that I really liked. First, the presentation of each strain, it's pro's and con's, and all the important information necessary to consider when working with each strain. I liked em and soon found myself considering them on a weekly basis as I waited for my first few grows using bag seeds to finish out.
Now, the only company that I found really close in price to the great competitive pricing available through TSSC was Nirvana. There is literally only a dollar or less difference between the pricing on each of these sites and they both ended up being my last two to choose from when I was ready to place an order. Like I said, I'm not a wealthy man. I live on a street with abandoned houses, in a part of town people call me crazy for living in. But, with that being said, living in the wilds of the ghetto has it's advantages as well as it's disadvantages. That's a story for another post though, and without getting too far off track here, I must say that after my "research", along with certain drawbacks associated with using bag seed, I settled on spending just under $70.00 on a half-dozen feminized seeds from TSSC.
I really liked the idea from the start that I could buy just one feminized seed of each strain I liked, and cross my fingers that they popped, rather than weeding out the males. I'm just not ready or set up to deal with breeding my own plants for seeds. Lack of space and limited resources (as in not wanting to spend the extra money on soil and nutes for plants that I won't keep) just steered me in the direction of feminized seeds, and being a new grower, variety steered me to taking chances on single seeds. So I placed my order on the 9th and waited, excited that I had not only the six seeds that I purchased on the way, but a couple free feminized seeds along with em! That's right, it's the Single Seed Centre motto! "Free seeds with every order!"
Well, I got my order in the mail a little more than a week later (8 days), and to my surprise, no free seeds! I was stunned! Then I thought to myself, "Eh, what can you expect. It's not like I ordered $100.00 worth of product or something". So I thought about it for a few hours after I got home from work and it chewed at me. I mean, this company sells their inventory on this famed motto and what did I have to show for going for it!? Nothing extra, no bonus, not even an explanation. I proceeded to their web site where I caught a glimpse of something I had overlooked in my exuberance during the process of choosing a company, and then choosing some seeds. "While supplies last" I knew right there they had me. Sure I could write em a bad review, or bad mouth em to my fellow farmers, but that wouldn't get me my free seeds. So I wrote a rather neutral review, yet truthful, basically stating that they were my first choice and I was mildly disappointed in this "mistake", as I wasn't entirely sure that they had not sent them due to a shortage. Then I wrote the company. Just a short e-mail describing that I was not really happy with not receiving what they had offered (not promised), and that I had intended to be a long term customer and I didn't want them or myself to miss out on the chance to make things right. I politely but assertively expressed that I thought they should do what's right and send me my free feminized seeds, no matter what the cost. Also telling them this was in fact a major reason why I went with purchasing through their company for my 'collection'. One day later, still no word back. But the next day I received a very satisfying e-mail.
Hi SinnerD,
We're very sorry to hear that you did not receive the free seeds with this order. This happens from time to time if the script on our site has a little hiccup and does not add them at checkout. We will of course make sure you receive the free seeds that should have been with this order, and we'll throw in a few extras from past promotions by way of an apology for this mix up. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
All the best,
The Single Seed Centre
Of course, I'm still waiting for these seeds to come in the mail, but I have little doubt that they will arrive. I've already received the tracking # for them. I would like to say that as long as these seeds show up, TSSC is going to have a loyal customer for sometime to come!
On another note; Of the six seeds I originally ordered from TSSC, I've planted three already and all three popped up above the soil in less than 48 to 60 hours! Now of the three that I purchased, two are from the Nirvana Seed Co., One from Dutch Passion Seed Co. (which is not a company that will serve the U.S., but one that I had heard many good things about). So in closing, I would like to say that free is what it is. If I happen to get some great strains for my 'collection' now, maybe even a couple that I may not have chose for myself from the start, It's better than nothing (free) at all!!!
If anybody else has a Seed Company they would like so share some good info on past purchases and enlighten us all with a post of your favorite company and/or a great freebie you've received, please DO! I'm still open to the idea of the best seed company out there. Thanks for reading all this!
