Ha....any of you that said "Go ask an immigrant" need to try that yourselves. Have YOU even talked to an "immigrant" lately, or are you so racist and blind that you see them as part of the problem? I know a few hispanic immigrant families and yes, they work hard, harder than most white college educated Americans will ever conceive. And a lot of them are headed back to their country.

Mexico is poor BECAUSE of the United States. Mexico's principle economy was agriculture, mostly corn (maize) and fruits. They were put out of business by American subsidized GMO corn, because even without any petroleum or anything, they couldn't outproduce American corn, nor could they produce it for less than the cost of production, which we can, thanks to taxpayer raping. They came here because of what we took from them. Not to mention, most middle-class Mexicans are the descendants of indigenous Native Americans, so technically, you are also standing on their land.

And no, most of them no longer see America as their promised land, its just that things are now getting to be just as bad here as they have been in Mexico, and most of them have already planted roots here, jobs, children enrolled in schools, etc.

Most Asians and Indians are actually headed back home, too. California is having its largest "brain drain" in a century and for the first time in California's history is actually decreasing in population. All those Indians and Chinese computer programmers that came here to go to CalTech, Stanford, UC Berkeley, etc. They are taking all their knowledge, skill, and talent back home, because there are no jobs for them.

Blaming any hardworking low to middle class person, no matter where they are from or what their ethnicity, is not the problem. 98% of the world only wants whats best for them, their families, and their communities. Its their leaders that have tricked and enslaved them into tax programs, debt and credit schemes, and endless labor. Blame the ruling class and their programs. Why do you think that the banks and the media turn it around and blame YOU, that you are "taking too much from the system", "spending too much", "not paying enough tax". Its all by design, they have build a consumer-based slave-labor society and you are just a pawn on a chess board, a slave on a ship. You are required to employ, food, and house yourself.

I mean, really, debt-based monetary system, fractional reserve banking, IMF, World Bank loans and sanctions, forced privatization of public utilities. The problem is capitalism and we are seeing its downfall as we speak.

I'm ready for some Mad Max apocalypse, bring that shit!

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Silly shit, stupid shit...

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

i have no idea what you are talking about mopho if that was toward my post's. I don't blame anyone that's working I don't care if its McDonald's or a janitor your doing your part. and i don't even know how you can see reverse migration is going on...? I have 2 buddies that run landscaping services and they are slowly being replace with Mexicans and guatemalans who do a far better job for way less money. now most of thier money is made in snow removal because they have a drivers license and own a truck and snow plow. you been to any restaurants lately or a car wash? How about any concrete jobs? these dudes are here working twice as hard for half the money.

America is still the land of opportunity but people have lost thier way, they were to busy busy putting thier kids on time out and buying shit from QVC. I bet you will never here the day when a guy goes i couldn't have done it without my parents good thing they put me on "time out" it taught me discipline and to not give up. socialism is a pyramid scheme, shits never gonna be even. we simply do not think like that. Its gonna squash the very thing this country stands for. Picture no more big homes everyone just living in projects. no more porches or Ferrari's goodbye to those technic 1200's. whats the since of making better product when its only worth what the worst product goes for.

You can never have everything equal because everyone is not the same. Some men will always be greater then others. The trick is to find out where you stand and make the most of your slot. People run around all day in thier own world and thier minds trick them into thinking they are more important then they are. accept your limitations, understand you cant have what the other man has. Take the time to build up your own self. People with thier hands out will not like what i have to say. I'll tell you i believe in you i know you can do it. ill tell you to go to school earn that degree no matter what the media says, its not gonna kill you to have a career. and if you got one go get another if its not working out. I'll tell you to put money in the bank and pay your bills on time and stop charging shit. Don't have a bunch of kids until you save up some money, make sure you start saving for thier college when thier born. live within your means. Get rid of the motorcycles, quads and what not until you own a house.

While I agree with the last two posts, I also agree that a lot of hardworking Americans got/are getting screwed by the bankers. Bank reform is the one thing I have agreed with throughout this whole occupy thing.

I also think almost every single one of us should take some personal responsibility for what is going on. You can point at those in power, but how did they get there? We voted them in. Every time we use credit cards the bank is empowered. Every entitlement check that is written gives them power. Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment, social security, disability, etc.. The more people they have on a fixed income, the easier it is for them to control us/ get our votes next time.

The complaints about capitalism are founded, but very misdirected. What we have here in America now is not pure capitalism. I'm not sure what to call it, but it's not pure capitalism. The barriers to entry, usually created by government, have become too much for the little guy to overcome in many cases. In the 70s if you wanted to start a construction company, all you needed was a hammer and a business license. My how things have changed.

With all that said, America is still the land of opportunity and the land of the free. To any of you who think otherwise: I want a list of countries that offer a greater chance at prosperity than does the USA.

Goddam this thread sounds like a trim room discussion...

So much happening. I try in my own mind to create my own world while also watching the shit go down. What I mean is despite all the shit happening I must not let it get me down or be afraid to live life to the fullest.
We are all only here for a millisecond in the big picture. I or my loved ones could be gone tomorrow and what matters after that?
Seek out what brings joy, simple things are best, sunrise, sunset, love sure makes things better.
Material things are nice and I have been blessed with so much, but what really counts is feeling good about myself, knowing iam sober from alcohol and finally contributing to the betterment of self and others.
Things will change as allways. I really hope we can make a difference one person at a time, one day at a time. Take good care of yourself before you try to fix other shit that may not be fixable Hope this makes sense.. CM

To stand in silence when they could be protesting, makes men into cowards!

We are stronger together. Right now people are either blindly content, or too lazy and scared to do anything about it. Im tired of trying to convince people. Its more fun to go downtown and hangout with people who already see the truth and are willing to stand up for it. Saturday was awesome. Lots of protestors and zombies everywhere. Lots of free music downtown and good food. Beautiful hippie chicks and zombie sluts everywhere. Occupy Denver had some speakers, poetry readers, and lots of live music. There was also an afternoon and evening march. The zombie crawl on 16st blew my mine, ive never been down there for it. Over 5,000 zombies took over 16st. Entertaining day to say the least. I tried a new strain too, Jedi Kush. Amazing genetics and flavor. Fun day in the city, but im ready for snowboard season to start.

Dunno this seems a little different than back in the Vietnam war era protests.
Chicago convention, Ohio, 4 dead, we really took it to the streets and were much more militant. I did get involved, gassed and chased out in both Berkely and Stanford.
I remember takeovers at universities, Black Panthers arming themselfs, Angela Davis, Civil rights movements marches, the bus boycott, MLK, the Yippies and hippies speakin out against the man.
I guess this is simular, not as much head bashing by the man so far anyway which may or may not be a good thing. The worlds view of the man sure changed after the Chicago convention, Richard P Daily, Nixon, Sprio Agnew, fuckin Dickhead, Chenny, Bush, now Obama when will we ever learn? Same shit, wars, lies, fear, hate, fuck all that bullshit. Again create happiness within and all that negitive shit will no longer effect oneself and just maybe one person at a time we can change by example and we all can be better off, sure is worth a try. I spent 2 hours at the Occupy Denver thing last night...

It was basically a homeless encampment with a kitchen. The only people holding signs, out of the 50-100 people there were my friend and I. Other people there were either homeless people who were around to have a 'safe' place, or young apathetic people who were there for the party.

I was also told that Denver's scene is considered the worst in the nation and is getting a lot of flack from other Occupy places. Apparently this is because anarchist have pretty much taken over, and the arrests of 2 weekends ago really turned a lot of people off.

The powers that be will no talk to OD anymore and will simply let the winter remove these people.

OccupyDenver is done.... stick a fork in it.

Sad to hear Jerome. Seemed back in the day folks were really more pissed off and better organized. You would never see water being sold, in the olden days, its seems at least in Denver to be simular to parking lot scene at a Dead show.
At least whatever the message is they are in the streets pissing off the man going against the grain so to speak.
Back in the 60s and 70s most of the fun hiding out and smoking pot was rebellion against the man. If you got busted you were in trouble, but I never did so I got away with it so we got away with fucking the man, ill do what I wish as long as I dont harm myself or others. We shared, everybody got high.
Nowdays just seems its about $$$ not so much about rebellion, maybe some too stoned to really care.....

.

This event doesn't hold a candle to a Dead show parking lot. And I saw no $ exchanged, or mentioned for anything - save for the drunk that walked through offering a Trek bike for $30.00

They have indeed pissed off the man, that is for sure. I was talking to one of my contacts in the Hancock Administration and they are pissed that they spent $365,000 on the event as of last week.

While a lot of people will dispute that figure, the Mayor is going to use that figure to deny any and everything to the movement.

"The Occupy movement has made it to Hartford and New Haven. In Hartford the Occupy protest made a fuss over their presence insisting they pitch tents and spend endless nights. They met with city officials who allowed the silly tents since it is an occupation no matter how Potemkin. Governor Malloy did them no favors by visiting the protestors earlier in the week only to find no one there—at what point do we call a protest not a protest when no one is there?—he’s quoted by blogger Ken Dixon as saying:

Actually, this happens to be true. I was coming back the other night and I was prepared to stop and they weren’t there. I think they had a rally someplace else. All of the tents were dark and there was nobody there. So I had time in my schedule to speak to them and there was no one to talk to.

In truth the Occupy Hartford crowd was so small it hardly qualified even for the word “crowd”. That they could get so much press and a visit by the governor only shows the extent in which the press is pushing for this thing when there is little to nothing there. Okay governor, if there were a rally somewhere else in city why don’t you know where it is? It is a “rally,” how can it be missed?"

130 people arrested in Chicago last night. This is a global movement, andits not going anywhere. We don't have to camp in a park to change the political system.

I call bullshit. You were never there. You've been bashing the occupy movement and what it stood for since you chimed in on this thread. Now you expect us to believe you not only attended an event but were carrying protest signs? Not likely. Troll elsewhere "bro."

i get your pissed off, but get over it. at least while your down there protesting bring your laptop and work on your resume. or start a store on eBay. come up with a new idea for a dish to be served at chillies or burger king.

it so easy to make money in this country whether your rich or poor. there comes a point in a mans life were he has to look at himself and ask "what am i doing wrong?" If you have debt, no house and the newest IPhone, computer laptops, micro thin flat screens. your rocking true religion jeans, own a nice set of golf clubs. got a car loan were your paying over 250 a month. then its you not the bankers. No protesting is gonna change who you are. your not gonna make your life better by blaming someone for your faults. Its like the girl that goes to school to become a teacher. she goes out gets a nice car owns a coach purse and a pair of the latest Ugg boots and complains teachers don't get paid enough...? who do you blame for your mismanagement of self?
