Your Carb Sweetner?! What To Purchase, Hm..

Discussion in 'Nutrients and Fertilizers' started by NeedFoSeedZ, Nov 21, 2018.

  1. Soooo I have no idea why it’s taken me almost 2 seasons to post on here buuuuut....I did it, haha!

So this prob isn’t the area for this, but generally I wanted finally to just make a post so I know I did

What do you guys like for sweeteners??!! And I’m talkin carb sweeteners! Yes I know molasses, yada yada...

Last crop I used bud candy like everyone, Terpinator (best stuff evurr)
And COCONUT WATER!!! (Started adding in organic coconut water when I started my Overdrive, about 5ml per gal) - oh my gosh, my buds have never tasted better!

Question tho - if you WERE to purchase a pre made sweetner, like Bud Candy or Suga Rush...what would you lean to BESIDES the best-known big names??

I’m trying to find that carb supp sweetness that is just Jesus ina bottle haha

Well all those products are basically watered down molasses. Or they have terpenes in them to manipulate the scent of the bud (cannabis takes supplied terpenes thru roots and deposits in the flowers it seems).
Yeah there are some more shit in there i’m sure. But really its watered down molasses or some other kinda K boost.
If you want to get the best smell out of your buds i think you should look into what aromatic herb growers are doing. Which is basically not feeding unnecessarily and watering less.
These induce heightened resin production. Also did i mention molasses :)

  4. Forsure, bro...that makes sense when you think about it. You’re essentially starving the plant so it will produce more resin glans trying to stick/attract to pollina!!

As my flowering cycle comes to an end, like everyone I decrease Ppm/feedings/water amount, yada yada...but one thing I like to do, (depending on yo Pheno & genetics) I start cuttin down my light hours. Like an hour a day, you can draw it out longer or shorter. Until I get to a solid 48-72hr dark cycle before harvest. I imagine everyone does this..?

FROST them nugs up! Same concept as your talking about. Another really good way to limit water amount; is to introduce an automatic Micro Irrigation System (Lil 4mm, quarter in whatever, black hoses) - your plants will drip runoff faster with less water included considering it’s a bit slower feeding & obviously restricted flow. But plants LOVE it, the automatic is not only easy but plants tend to vigor massave when they have the exact consistency of automatic feedings of the same ppm/ph/amount/time every day. (Really turns my OCD on too )

Well....this thread took a different turn. Haha. I think I really know/have all the info I need on sweeteners. I really just wanted to see if anyone uses anything besides damn Molasses haha!
I think ima just run my good ole Terpinator & Coconut Water, with Remos Nature Candy. Not so much for flavor but that’s dope stuff & im not lacking any sweetness in my hits whatsoever!

  5. Do you vape cuz I do not see how those products could be considered an improvement upon flavor. Nor does anyone I know who grows (we all vape)

In my experience they give a noticeably artificial smell and bad taste. You could even tell some batches of Buttcandy had raspberry/cranberry extract and others didn't. Dont get me started on why Sweet or Floralicious needs to come in 6 different "flavors". Fake smells and added sandbag weight from fruit scrap esters and single molecule sugars is some shady shit.

Any flavor booster worth using is going to be a microbial, enzymatic or acidic product. Of course you're probably growing hydro and hate legitimate dank, if sweetners are anywhere near your grow. Just use the sugar if that's the case. Save you some money.

I do not do a dark cycle before chopping. Some do but I do not. I got a bottle of bud candy for free. Can’t really tell any difference. I won’t be buying more. My buds were plenty frosty before using it. My ferts have molasses in them already. I see no need for more.

You should use liquid rather than a powder

"There’s also Dry molasses, which isn’t actually dried molasses – It’s a grain residue carrier that has been drenched in liquid molasses. Dry molasses contains more sugar than liquid molasses, but can’t be mixed into water. It’s recommended to apply 1 lbs. of dried molasses per 50 sq. ft."

What’s the dose and feeding schedule with that? I might use it in place of bud candy when it’s gone. Like I said I got a free bottle so it didn’t cost me anything. I’d be interested to run it a few times and see. I’ve got other unsulfered blackstrap molasses in the cupboard. So I might give that a go.

  12. I use Technaflora products, so I add Sugar Daddy to nute solution the last water change, and then during first 3-4 days of flush. I used to use throughout the grow cycle, per recipe of success chart, but I only use late in flowering now. Seem to have same results. I also only use 50% of recommended dose.

You can buy Grandma's molasses by the gallon at smart and final and a few other places. Only 20$ a bottle. I buy up about 10 gallons a crop.

10ml per gal of water. Use every watering if u like . I do it every 3 rd water/ feed. Remember it’s feeding the bacteria which in Turn feeds the plants

That’s a decent amount. I’ll give it a whirl. Thanks for the info bro :)

  18. If you feed too much Molasses..specially during flush, your bud will taste like molasses, and I hate the stuff..With that said, it is good once per week until two weeks out imo.
I tried a liter of Botincare Sweet raw (unflavored) and I don't think its bunk..My buds got pretty sticky so I bought a gallon. I try to stay away from Monsanto related companies (GH and Botincare), but I use PH UP/DOWN and the Sweet..

On my outdoor ladies, I push 1 tbl per gallon (15ml) during certain times. However, 10ml is a very good recommendation. Per gallon btw.

  20. Yup I’ve run bud candy, liquid w8 and simple molasses
The $3 molasses worked best in the end. I just get the unsulphered grandmas at Walmart. Like I said $3 water it down yourself. Most others are just like crimsonecho said “derived from molasses. “ so just skip them processing n add your own water. I run 1-2 tbsp per gal
2 is more a mid peak flower thing when theyre really demanding. Once a week or so. The stuff is thick. then I taper it down too at the end.
I’ve also been looking at trying pure coconut water. Same thing watered down by me to gallons. Probably need a case of them cartons for 1 flower period It’s expensive here but I think still be about the cost of running bud candy or similar. but I wonder what the results would be using just that for sugars.taste wise
It also adds moisture like aloe does. It’s high k too I think. Natural Idk I been looking at it.
