1k & 330 CMH or 2 600's HPS

currently I am running 1k HPS over 4x4 e&f table and a 330 cmh over a scrog in a 4x6x8 tent for flower.
I picked up 2 600's and hood yesterday on cl for cheap and was thinking about 2 600's in the tent vs what I currently have. I know the 600 is more efficient, but which set up would be better, I'm thinking the 2 600's, but not sure. The 1k works great, but wondering if I'd be better off with the 2 6's

I WAS Using 2 400,s a year back me I swapped it for my 1 600, and, ppffft. I'm Fucking gutted I didn't LEAVE EM THERE MATE EH. I ALSO FELL IN TO THE WHOLE 600,S. ARE LIKE 36? % MORE LIGHT, LUMENS .. AND I THAUGHT SAVE A FEW, BUCKS, ON LECKY. WITH THE 2 400,S MATE MY YEILDS WERE HUGE. AND I MEAN MASSIVE MAN. I HAD SO MUCH BUD I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ALL OF THAT MAN EH. :-).. GOOD DAYS. SO I IMAGINE THAT 2 600,S WOULD BE THE BOMB. EVEN IN YOUR 1.4 TENT BRO. NEVER USED THE 1000,S AS U KNOW BUT THE 2 600,S MATE I IMAGINE HUGE GROWTH. COS EVEN A 1000 /AIR COOLED IS STILL NO WERE NEAR WOT A 600,WOULD BE. :-) THAT SOUNDS GOOD 2,ME MAN EH. I'M GETING THE 1.4 ,TENT NOW I SEEN URS. :-). WITH A 1000,AIR COOLED. THE 1,I TOLD YOU ABOUT .BUT, YES. I THINK 2 600,S IS WAAAYY MORE THAN A 1000,.AND YOU CAN GET THE FOLIAGE ALMOST TOUTCHING THE GLASS. MINE ACTUALLY DOES BUT WITH LOADS OF DIFERENT FANS, THAT IT GETS BLOWN AROUND IN THE TENT A, LOT, IT STRENGHTENS THEM THO SO IT'S A GOOD WAY 2,DO IT. :-)

Are you in PG&E territory? If so, I went with a pair of 600s for that reason and no other. The difference in wattage used between a pair of 600s and a pair of thouies is unaffordable at PG&E rates. There's also the issue of coverage, single bulb vs a pair or more of bulbs.

However, I've never used thouies, nor have I used CMH, so I can't state unequivocally which would be better.

exactly what I was looking for, bec yes I am on PG&E and my first priority is lower bills. Looks like one of the 600's I picked up will need some work......So time to learn how to rebuild them and find parts :(

with the craigslist stuff I got I received 2 600 watt HPS magnetic ballasts made by a company called "cool-touchlighting.com" Out of business it looks like back around 2003, but they got great reviews.... They used tobe out of Canada from what Ive read. Ill be out of town later this week, but when I get back Ill be opening them and cross referencing part numbers to see IF they can be revived.... thankfully not my only light options, but I am interested in getting them tested for safety and rebuilt if needed to try 2 600's vs my current set up

Sounds like a plan man. Wot r u finding wrong with the 1000,like bro.

Nothing wrong with the 1k, works great. Had it all rebuilt 2 months ago, just looking to maximize my area and keep it efficient ;) And even though they say you can run a 1k in a 4x6x8 I am thinking the 2 600s centered would give a better footprint.

4' wide by 6' long by 8' high? I couldn't find a good description of your area.

In my 4' x 8' veg tent, I run a1kW MH in an adjust-a-wing, oust somewhat to one side. At the opposite end, I run a 130W LED, and this combination works very well for me. I imagine something similar would do well for you.

yeah currently in a 4Wx6.5Hx8L with the 1k almost centered, then the 330 CMH vertical over a scrog on the opposite end, it seems to work great. If I can cut some power usage and still get decent light saturation Im happy, If not I will stay happy where I am at :)

my .02....I was taught two light sources are always better than one for plant vigor.
Therfore I have always provided a 600/400 in my 5by 5by 7 tent.......and love the results.

Your most welcome....For some real trich production....hang a reptisun 10.0 uvb bulb or 2 (lizard basking light from petsmart) over your canopy while in flower....I get trichs on my leaf n stems.....
