I keep my veg on 18/6. 24/0 always vegged slower for me and it has always seemed that a little dark time helps them. considering light inhibits the hormones that promote flowering it makes sense to me.

18 hours or less produces more females 24 hrs produces more male plants and raises your electric bill .....fwiw

The first time yer timer fucks up and you drop into flower unexpectedly or find hermies....you'll see why just pluggin it all in directly and letting it run 24 hours a day makes sense.

I've tried 18,20 and 24 hrs lights on and I see no difference in size or speed of growth. Just difference in electric bill. Plants have spend millions of years adjusting to a dark period and I can't ,believe that 24 hrs of light doesn't stress plants

its in most books on cannabis including the bible , no i have not tested it any have to admit i have been on 24/7 alot just do to laziness but why not save the 6 hrs of light . if interested i can quote the male / female ratio tips but to be honest i have not noticed much difference either and really don't know how much clout j. curtz has in the cannabis industry except it was my first marijuana book ...

I would also lean towards plants needing a dark period also i mean they gotta sleep too , just my 2 cents ...

Sadly it's probably laziness for me as well but I guess it's a matter of personal opinion because I don't think there's that drastic of a difference and that's why it's not a critical point in any teaching aids. that's why I asked nobody really finds that huge difference.

yes to some degree we are all trying to replicate nature, in nature the lights go out. 24/0 can be done but that doesn't mean it's what's best. I can decide to blow a bunch of dudes but it wouldn't be the best decision for me just because i'm capable of it:dead: . a little rest can work wonders for us and we can't do our best without it,i can't imagine a plant being too much different

I only do clones as well, so girls are girls for me too... nevertheless, can stress herme them?

as far as I know and Ive only been farming for 2yrs but given the right kind and amount of stress will cause hermie issues, right...?

I run 18/6 mostly for cost,but they seem to show sex faster running like this.i run a lot of seeds,and my clones don't seem to mind lol.my plants did seem to have a slightly nicer node spacing when I ran 24/0,always nice n tight like that.but these days I don't mind some stretch and I don't run many pure sativas.

Veg 16/8 - flower 10/14 for me at the moment. No major growth difference but energy consumption is better overall.

Plants do like a rest period. There is a chemical reaction that takes place - no scientist here and I can't copy and paste from my phone... but I wondered this for awhile which led to major research. Fwiw, I had a chance to visit a Dj short class and he was saying he vegges 14/10 and flowers 10/14... that's what lead to my time schedule.

Another thing that's bitchin about having a dark period is the way ur gals look right when the lights come on, all praying to the light and what not. With 24 hour light, they don't stand stout as much. Just my .02

I never run lights 24/7 anymore. I either use the natural photoperiod, or for cuts an interrupted schedule, and for seedlings (next time I do them) it's going to be a simple 18/6. It doesn't make fiscal sense to me to have my lights on 24/7.

Only time I go 24/7 now is if I happen to need to reveg a certain plant. And that is pretty rare.
