pH is a consequence of an accumulation of ions in one form or another, eg too much ++++++ or too much -----. There are 2 pH systems, one is the plant pH, one is the media. They are dependent but not related. EG the plant does not give a shit if there are too many +ions around the media as its eats a NO3- ion. but it will still regulate itself and spit out a H+ ion to retain internal homeostasis. It is the accumulation of such free radicals that leads to pH swings. Lower CEC media types such as Perlite, have no capacity to buffer these H+ ions and so pH can swing fast. It can also be corrected fast unlike in a heavy clay which would go for far longer before you saw the impacts on your plant via a nutrient lock out and would likely be terminal within the time frame of a pot plants life, this is why such media types are valued, they help us recover our mistakes in short day crops without losing the whole harvest.
if I change a clay, or a perlite particle for that matter from a negative to a positive, then I repel any other cations so my plant cant even access them despite there being loads in the substrate. Only by scavenging free radicals can we maintain media homeostasis, in nature this is done via active biology, humates like organic acids, proteins and enzymes, indoors where man thinks hes a god we put this system at risk, and this is why the plants outside look great, and your plants look shit. I A sincere lack of understanding and acknowledgement of the vital roles of microscopic organisms is the reason people have pH problems anyway. pH isnt an issue in nature, only an invention of hydro and or wider more drastic pollutions by humans

Um Ok man, youre well more into this than me. I just wash it and use it, get the dust off it and all same PH. If thats wrong, my bad, but I'll still do it

no one said it was wrong, I am not the arbitrator of right and wrong
, merely reporting the actual science facts of pH

Where is everyone this morning?

What I should have said is, I dont understand that shizzle on that level so I just go with what works to me. Slowly trying this and that

Lmao ... more like dole day lol

I don't even wash the dust out my perlite I open the bag n tip it into my crate of coco n nice it through .....

As for wash and go, I am 100% organic bro, I dont wash anything, but i am very careful about what I use to help me, cause if that aint helping others, then the help it gives me is a self indulgent pile of shit seen from over the road.
Not thinking beyond what does this do for me right here and now is a character of all of us, some more than others of course :-) Why dont I use perlite? well, Perlite is a non-renewable resource. I use rice hulls :-)

Post needs to hurry up. I'm waiting on a new portable vape ....
Went with the atmos jump. Read loads of great reviews on it. There's no coil so no way your herb can combust and to top it off I've had it in black n gold carbon fibre ;)
hahaha is it there yet?

I think you've nailed it, we are all into this on different levels, I use coco as its convenient for me in this time and place and other factors. Once I have a nice plot, I want to run beds, pure organic soil, brew my own bennies, nice big green house in the hills.
For now I work with the things I'm familiar with, like you I'm always hesitant to just throw something new at my girls

Not yet mate , comes anytime between 9am and 1pm lol
ah man wide load, I hate that, last week I ordered a pre 10;30, came 30 minutes after the contractor fucked off at 12.15, go figure, at least they are being general enough for you not to be stood there at 10:45 with a pissed off contractor going, wheres the fucking parcel?

people have these charts right?
