So, I'm in the process of converting a wash room for mothers.. and I'm in need of some brains.. I wanna run a 55 gal rez with ro system and auto shut off valve, with a submersible pump to feed 8-12 plants. I'm him a have to be topping off the rez weekly since they going to be mothers but I'm unsure what size pump i would need? and also an octabubbler could cover how many plants? and how will I have this rigged to a timer to automate my waterings..? thanks for the help in advance.

It really depends on how much money you want to spend. I can give you some cheap ideas but I'm not that familiar with the new stuff. You can use a quarter inch copper line and a a swamp cooler float. You might want to put your reservoir on a stand so you can put a drain on the bottom and run it outside or something for cleaning it out unless you don't mind disassembling it and taking it outside for cleaning. Not a bad idea to run a water line in so you can put a small hose and sprayer near the reservoir as well. A submersible pump might be the most reasonable priced item for that Reservoir something like a fountain pump. You can put a valve on the line out to control your flow to a point. Not sure about the bubbler. I use soil I made a ring with some quarter inch dripper line from Home Depot I made a ring around the pot and put 3 sprayers on each I found these excellent adjustable sprayers that give me good coverage and even watering. The timer for the watering is kind of tough. You could use a flood and drain where you put your pots in a big giant tray or you could try to dial it in to where you can give it just the right amount of water for each pot either way you still need something underneath to catch the runoff. I bought a water timer from Home Depot that was made by Toro and I was able to Plumb all my stuff into it. It was pretty nice because I could set it down to the minutes. There is always a setup out there that you could buy ready to go sometimes that's the best way. Let me know if you want links to any of these items I was talking about I will be glad to send them. Hope this helps happy growing.

I don't know if you're doing soil or not but one other thing that you can do that's pretty easy is to just run your Reservoir with an air pump and hook a small hose to a submersible pump and hand water with it.

Flora flex I believe has the pieces resonably cheap you just need the pvc sticks. Pvc pieces being made are getting to be almost pieces of art

Yeah sometimes it's better just to buy this stuff. My best advice is keep it simple. That maintenance can become a real bitch LOL.

Do not use any metal in your system ESP copper!!!!!....U can get a bulkhead or go cheap and get a uniseal and glue it in the rez..Or they have ebb n flow barbed bulkheads which may work better for u..Or u could just put the pump in the res and run it to the octobubbler that way...I've never used one of those so can't tell u anything about that...U will need a seconds timer which is like 25 online and pry a 396 or 500gph pump would work as u have a few feet of head height getting out of your res so maybe a 500gph would be better u could get a d/c pump that has a speed controller on it and dial it in that way esp for a watering setup like your doing might be best I paid 51 for my 660gph dc jaebo pump and love it and will get x2 1056gph for my veg n bloom setup I do run the bucket company tho so not a normal flood n drain etc setup....
