Week 5 flower. I missed a feeding but doesn't look like it affected the plants at all. They are so tall! I wish I could have better controlled this canopy.

Week 6 update! Made the jump into better lighting. An hlg Qb288 lm561c 3500k that I installed tonight replacing the old meizhi 130w led. I'm not sure how to adjust it yet so have no clue how hard I'm driving it. Will need to do some fiddleing around.

As much as I wanted this grow to be a test of what blurple lights can produce for myself, i had to make the switch! Now it's crazy blurples with 3500k in the middle. The white widow and the og kush on the far right will be under the qb.

Temp tonight 79f
Humidity 50%
Watering canna coco 9ml/g A+B

Looks like you have some foxtaliling going on. You may need to back those lights off!!!

Moved my lights up due to the foxtailing that was pointed out. The damage has been done but now I'm wondering if there's any recovery from foxtails after making adjustments? Og kush is looking the strongest followed by the white widow on the far left and the foxtailing white widow in the middle. Estimated harvest date is August 5th but it looks like I'll probably let them go longer. I also ripped apart my meizhi light, took the drivers and rear cover, and installed some bridgelux eb gen 2 1' strips coming in at 16 strips in total split onto 2 drivers that were already in the meizhi. I've also rooted some cuttings in a cup of water for unlabeled clones... I'll next time have to remember not to get the leaves wet and to label the cuttings...

It's week 9 and it's almost time to harvest! The foxtailed white widow is ready to be chopped and the other two are following behind. My cuttings rooted in a cup of water are looking great! Getting back into veg and monster cropped clones are looking amazing. I really like how they bush out and the bud sites are spread. Also got a clone from a local grower which is the purple Trainwreck x Goo. All vegging under a hlg 65. No more blurples for me. But I was thinking of reusing my meizhi for the red since they have those switches for bloom or veg but would it give me any sort of added imrpovement in combination with a quantum board and eb gen 2 leds?

-Musings and an update-
I really need to stop cloning for a bit. I don't have enough room for all of them. So glad i didnt need rockwool or other stuff to clone, however I assume rockwool would have been great for keeping my leaves from contacting water and keep them looking prettier than I have them currently. Luckily I can go into flower again in a week after I harvest the current crop.

So for the past month I have watered my flowering plants 8-9ml/g of canna coco a+b up to the end of flower. It has done the trick and only left slight tip burn. I have decided against flushing at the end, throwing in molasses into the water (since I'm in coco), and putting them to sleep for more than 24 hours before harvest. I've done some reading and it doesn't seem necessary, to me at least, and I'm going to see how it all turns out. I plan on having a proper dry and cure and not rush things. The og kush has been great to grow without a single issue from me, the environment of the grow space, or the plant itself. I screwed up with one white widow that foxtailed due to light and heat stress. Luckily it only affected one plant. My other white widow is looking good but I don't think I gave it enough room to flower into and it blocked some light from itself without me noticing. I need to better manage the spacing of colas. I also want to try shaping the plants with lst to better utilize my grow spaces. When I did lst this first grow, all I had in mind was to get more branching and colas.

So close to harvesting all the plants. Chopped the foxtailed white widow and I can't wait to taste it! I took some larf from the bottom of the foxtailed white widow weeks ago, dried it, and it smoked up real nice. Got a nice happy clear high followed with a nice body high that left me relaxed and sleepy. I can't wait to see what the more developed buds will do. Will be flipping the clones to 12/12 very soon to commence round 2 of budding. A shot of what remains of the white widow stump. Has anyone made tea with dried roots of cannabis?

Well I will have to say, this first grow has been productive. Learned a lot through first hand experience such as don't let your big fat heavy buds lean on your tent wall as support. The mix of humidity and the condensation that may have collected on the walls when lights turn on possibly led to bud rot for 3 big fat og kush buds. A small dehumidifier is not enough. Probably could have had one more fan in my tent to help move the air as well. My white widow on the other side of the tent hasn't shown signs *crossing fingers!" Everything got chopped. Carrefully chopped and zip lock bagged the top bud rot. Luckily I caught it real early? There wasn't visible signs of rot until I peeled open the bud to see the mold. Luckily I had the forsight to check the buds regularly. The mold took hold at the top of my buds that made contact with my panda film.

And so to recap this first grow,
1. White widow #1 (WW#1) had it's seed shell stuck on the sprout at the beginning of the grow delaying growth and resulting in a slightly smaller plant.
2. White widow #2 that sat in the middle of the tent foxtailed.
3. Og kush stayed healthy and problem free up until the end when mold took the top fat colas.
4. Thank goodness I didn't have any pest problems aside from the cat trying to eat the plants.
5. Get proper plant supports that don't mold in your growing medium.
6. These seeds were a mystery from the very beginning. Don't know where they were bought and from which breeder.
7. Things can only go up from here right? I've seen mold, I've seen delayed growth and how to remove helmet head from sprouts, and I now know what foxtailing looks like.

After harvesting last night I separated my white widow and og kush drying areas and will be monitoring them for mold.

Currently I have 2-1/2 closets full of weed.

On to round 2. Flipping my clones tomorrow to 12/12 and making sure I do as much as possible to avoid these issues again.

First pic is of the bud rot.

Very nice grow, even with the bit of rot. Those buds still look big and resin covered, I am sure you will enjoy them thouroughly. One thing to keep in mind is that good airflow in your drying area will keep mold down. Don’t blow air directly on the buds, but make sure it is circulating around the room (closet in your case).

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering this last night if i might have my fan blowing a little too directly on a few of my low hanging colas. The fan is currently blowing across the floor of the tent. I Will deflect the fan off the tent walls to make more indirect air movement and give that a try. I noticed a little movement from some lower hanging colas from just blowing directly across the floor. Still have my exhaust fan on as well.

And my stumps are out to dry. I need that coco soon.

Trimming takes a lot of time. I need more time. So far I have only trimmed not even half of my foxtailed white widow and have tallied a little more than an ounce so far which gives me a lot of hope for a very nice yield! The smoke so far has been better than anything I could buy legally in my part of the woods which makes me very happy because my tolerance has hit the wall and I've been slowing down how much I smoke up so I can still experience the high. With my home grown bud, I run the risk of getting too high!

Can't wait to come back and end this diary with a final yield tally! My clones are doing well. No more inefficient blurple grow lights for this person! Kept a few of my clones in quart containers and I can't wait to see how they preform. I didn't lst the quart pots too much(the monster cropping kind of does the job of spreading things out for you) and have seen 4-6 colas on each pot which is great since I don't really have the space for them all which allows me to focus on hopefully cultivating big fat colas in those quart pots. The plants iIhave in the gallon pots are thriving and have gone through somes lst resulting in a nice bush of a plant. The two pots in the front are in about 3 gallons of coco with the one on the front left growing in coco i used in this past grow. Really should have built a bigger tent this time around. I had more space than I anticipated but I didn't measure twice...

As much as I was hoping for 9 ounces, I only got 6 ounces and a whole lotta trim. The meizhi and viparspectra lights were okay for growing but definitely not great and I'd rather recommend an HLG65 over a single meizhi or viparspectra since it's just a better light imo or if your handy, build one. Although I didn't get the yield I wanted, I did get the potency that I have been searching for. Happy for this first harvest and now I'm on the end of week 3 of my 2nd crop. Will be defoliating tonight when the lights turn on. Hope I get better results with better lights and a little bit more experience.

Yeah I knew this going into the grow about the limitations of leds. I have limitations when it comes to this first grow because of time and budget but the opportunity was right so I plunged into the world of growing cannabis with a budget and a plan. That plan was to use many cheap lights that I can afford now and see what I get and hope they last for future vegatative growing. I ideally want diy LEDs people are putting together which exceeded my light budget and time restriction. This first grow gives me time to sort through what I want to do next really and what my next approach will be.
You should be OK . My first grow I used 2 300 w Mars hydro on 2 ww plants. Got about 2 Oz per plant. For first grow with shity lights I thought was pretty good. Take what she gives you and just keep learning and upgrading grow.

Looks awesome bro! Great first grow. I'm also on my first grow. It's funny, I started with a blurple too and decided to upgrade mid-grow to a better light LOL. Good luck on your next grow
