At What Point Is Sex Obvious?

So, this first grow is completely jacked because things call just kind of fell into place and the right, and wrong time. I just had a hodge-podge of seeds (no known strains or anything), and did not even know they would germinate or sprout. Once they did, I was in a mad dash getting a tent and all the other stuff over the course of some weeks. I sort of kept a calendar of major events, but did not really track anything too much on this grow as I just figured I would see it through to the end.

Anyway, I am at the stage where I need to make the choice to SCRoG or not, and some other decisions. I have nine plants, however, I still have no idea how many are female. I haven't been able to see the sex of any of the plants yet.

I have studied pictures, read articles, and I am pretty sure I am looking in the right place, I just do not see anything there. So, I'm looking for a little help on sexing and that timeline.

Does the plant have to have a minimum amount of nodes before it begins to show its sex? Does it only show on one or two nodes?

If I am allowed to post pictures on here, if someone will show me an image of exactly where to take a picture on my plants, I'll show that area for opinions.

Thanks. I'll dive through a bunch of those pictures tonight and see what I can come up with. Another question I have since it seems the answer varies widely even in texts, but what point should I start to be able to see the pre-flowers (or whatever I'm needing to look for) in time to pull the males? Is that in the veg stage (like I am thinking), or does it not happen until right after flipping into the flower stage? Do you sometimes not get to see the sex until right about time to flower?

What kind?

When she sticks her tongue in your ear :)

So, let me ask this. Could I not be seeing signs of sex at this point because I have had my LED light running with the Veg switch only on? This is obviously something of debate on forums and articles, whether to use just the veg switch during veg, or both for the full intensity. So, two days ago I raised my lights a bit and started running it with both switches on (Veg and Flower). Any chance that since I haven't been running any red spectrum that my pre-flowers are delayed or something?

Lol though, I'm holding out hope that I am just overly impatient and need to wait just a bit longer because most sources say that males a visible sooner than females... lol

when you see this is when it should be obvious you have a male.

Your males will generally grow faster, taller and reach sexual maturity faster. This way he is towering above the female so when shes ready and he busts his nutz the pollen falls on her pistils.

Thanks for the detailed picture. Curious, for the female pre-flower (listed above as female early flower) at that stage, will I need a magnifying glass or some other optical insturment to see what is shown in the top left picture? Or can it be seen with the naked eye?

So, I looked again right before lights out last night. Still couldn't tell for sure. On three of the plants, I did find I single little oval (or at least elliptical) shaped right where everything is supposed to be. However, it is still way too small for me to see if there are going to be those two white hairs coming out of them, or if there are going to be more of those sacs coming up.

So, I guess the question I have this morning is do you usually see and know the sex of the plant before making use of SCRoG? I assume so because that would be a pain to find out it is all male and have to unweave everything to get it out. Just wanted to ask to cover all bases.

I went over some of my notes, and I am estimating that I germinated these seeds on 27 JUL, so I am guessing I am in the fifth week (since germination and put into soil). Maybe I'm just right at that cusp of things starting to become visible?
