I am looking for some opinions from those who have experience with quantum boards. I am looking at two possible options for a 2x4 tent, the first option would be to run a qb288 V2 the second option would be to run multiple qb100’s (3 or 4). The multiple qb100’s would give me a bit more variability in how I could run my lighting and would undoubtedly be enough light for the area. I do have some concerns about the coverage of the qb288 but HLGs specs say it would be efficient. In the worst case scenario I could always add supplemental lighting like T5 strips in the corners to add a bit of side lighting. The qb288 would probably be a bit more cost effective though. Just looking for thoughts an opinions.

Also for those using HLG quantum boards what dimmer are you using or are you dimming the lights with the driver?

I’m thinking about grabbing 2 qb288’s for flower and possibly adding a couple cobs. Does anyone know if I could run them all off of the same driver?

Ditto, I’ve been contemplating diving in to this. I’m still old school. Lots to learn.

Im running the 288 V1s now in HLG550s and 288 V2s in HLG600s,I replaced Gavitas and CMH315s with them and they are the brightest lights ive ever owned, also the most expensive!Im hoping to recoup costs in electrical savings.Im running my AC at 80-81 now instead of 72 and im saving about 1/3rd on lighting electrical also.Ive only done 1 1/2 runs and im still dialing things in but so far so good.
On my 550s i use a number 1 philips screwdriver in the top of the ballasts to dim(there is a port with a rubber plug on top)and on the 600 kits i got the external dimmer which is really easy to use.In a 2x4 tent you might be better of with the 100s spread out just because of the oblong shape of the tent but im sure either way would work,Good Luck!

I like the 132’s. The 288 are great as well but I think I prefer the spread of the 132s.

9x132 and a 288 in the back right. This is veg currently taking up a 4x5 tent, the two in the back are due to be flipped soon. I have found I run the 132 mid powered and have let the plants almost grow into them. Also no heat sinks required, they are light weight and easy to build around. I power each set of 4 132 run in perallel with these

Side note of the hlg 550/qb

Growers house is having a sale for the hlg 550 v2 for $713 with free ship, wowzers
(Compared to when it came out or original price. Makes it comparable price to a DIY with warranty and the certs )
Just wish I had grow canopy space and cash to do it cause I did think about it, sounds def promising at that

Well I decided to go ahead and build my own. I ordered 4 HLG 132s and a Mean Well HLG 240H-C1750B driver to run them. I will be building my own hanging rig to house these boars. I want to thank everyone who contributed here but particularly @Mr.jiujitsu for showing how effective those boards can be.

I would say not to..HLG says even with the same boards, different lots, different spectrums should not be mixed..
I have
4x QB132's in 2700k
4x QB132 3000k
1x QB288 V1 3000k
2x Atrium Lighting (a new vendor-Ebay) 288 V2 3000k
2x Photon Sunboards - alternating 4000k and 2700k (same Sammy Diodes)

I run them all with Parallel drivers and just added those Atrium boards and heatsinks using a Meanwell B type Parallel driver and a 100k Pot for dimming..

I sold off all of my inexpensive imported Burbles and kept a Unit Farms UFO80 and my Nextlight Mini..These SMD boards are amazing.

How would you compare the Atreum boards to the HLG’s?

Only had them 2 weeks or so, but they are the real deal V2s. I ordered mine with heatsinks and the precision tooling, etc is excellent (no paste, and you just screw them together with supplied hardware, like HLG). Packaging is better than that from HLG or Growerslights imo.

They are a little different in dimensions..9" square. There isn't a bunch of info on his storefront (Ebay), but I had a question after purchase (driver wise) that he responded to immediately..His feedback is excellent and I think I saw an article from Ledgardner about his lights. I would buy from him again. (I get the best prices on Drivers from Arrow Electronics).

I run them at 1800Ma (I imagine the max is about 2100), in a 2 board configuration, in Parallel as recommended bu Atrium. They run at 110d F on the face at that power. NO heat issues (driver is outside the tent.)

In have two of them in 3000k straddled by a QB132 on each end, in a 2x4x6 tent.

I was using two Mars SP250 in my 4x4 grow tent. I believe one can cover your 2x4 tent well.
The dim function is under the driver but i don't think it is very convenient. I need to take off the driver from the light. that's bad.

Tbh youd be better of with a shit ton of lamp bulb lights! They put out more light than the quantum crap. Sell that crap and buy bulk cfl's. Hope this helps bro. Peace and love

Wait a minute. You’re asking for help choosing genetics because you’re new to the “Growing game” and then you come here and give bad advice on lighting? What gives?

Then I presume that your QB comment is a joke, if you know about indoor farming.
