i personally use a lot of pro active bacteria. They manage your plants keeping your plants healthy. With drinking water most water companies add chlorine or chloramine. The former evaporates over night with exposure. The former is harder to eliminate I still let it settle overnight if you have a fish tank pump this can be very handy. With chlorine you can rid the water in an hour of two chloramine maybe not? I grow in a place where my water is treated with chloramine. My plants grow fine I have deleted my photos off of phone but I entered at least one in the photo comp time ago.
With organic soil ph is more important than water ph! But if you’re ph of water is excessive it can influence soil ph. I use organic apple cyder vinigar as ph down. This is bio friendly rather than phosphoric acid. But add soil and that my be all you need for a weed then it’s up to Seymour lol

Yeah what I see is I think you soil has contracted, hopefully you still have some and can add? What size are those pots are they rhizopots? You’re roots seem to be exposed if these are not your final containers? You must now use this opportunity to repot, the only thing you may have lost is time and not much at that. Soil does have buffers and it’s not as vital as say hydro and coco which in science is classed as hydro. Is it only chlorine or is it chloramine? Chloramine is chlorine and ammonia it doesn’t leave from leaving the water standing or oxidation as quick. But this is not gonna effect you growing good weed, this is optimisation.
Organic soil is about micro life preservation. But they don’t mean your not going to grow good weed it just means that if you get it dialed in you can beat anything hydro can throw at you. Seriously though I always top my pots right up due to shrinkage. Have you any drainage know unnecessary in rhizopots, but one less problem to look at while you tweak the rest.
I have switched to rhizopots my self and have tried with and without drainage and find a very small layer of hydro balls or gravel (gravel less desirable if you value your back) can make more manageable if time is of value, and the soil should have enough nitrogen to make it to first feed. Personally I would add some rhizoctonia too the soil your adding and make sure every bit of soil has water drain through it but with a gentle squeeze retains mostuire but does not drip, that is your benchmark damp not soggy white roots not brown, water in circle trying get uniformed dampness!

Hi thanks for taking the time. I am using 6 gallon Root Pouches with 25 Litres (5.5 Gallons) of soil and they are mi final pots. I also put germinated seeds straight in to them and I am using the full cannabio Line. I don't know if my water has Chloramine or chlorine but it does smell like a swimming pool when I boil the kettle. The drainage seems good to me, not long after I watered them in started to run out, but I have been trying to water little by little to try to make sure 'all' of the soil gets wet. As for damp not wet, I didn't hear of that before so now I will aim for that in future.

Thanks for the help

Peace

I think it might be chloramine because no matter how long I leave it in the kettle, it always smells like a swimming pool when I boil it. I don't have a fish tank or a pump so that's a no go. I am going to get a carbon filter to filer the tap water so I am hoping that will help. I will also get a soil Ph tester now that you mention the soil Ph being more important. I'm also interested in the "pro active bacteria" you say you add. do you have any links for this?

Once again. thank you for your help and advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Peace

I think I twigged the issue/s. So after reading a lot more this is what I suspect.

1) Apparently cold roots can inhibit the uptake of certain minerals, namely magnesium - my tent has been at best 10c aqt night.

2) I have noticed what you guys know as n claw in new growth (new growth has accelerated since I let the soil dry out)

3) Hard water can also cause magnesium deficiency.

what I am thinking is Ph water in future and make sure night temperatures are at a good level (RZT).

over all I have now got a plan for future grows. Before I jump in and rush ahead like I have. Get my room/tent running correctly. I have come to understand that even though it is a weed and 'will' grow, it is not naturally from this neck of the woods so I have to sort of create a micro-climate for them. So in short, I will run the tent for a few days (or weeks if need be) to make sure all my lights on and lights off temps are good so to make sure that not only is my temp and rh good, but RZT is good and doesn't drop below the ideal...

then, make sure I ph my water every time and, filter it to make sure my water ppm isn't above 250.

Does this sound like a good way of doing things?

thanks again for the help and advice people, it has been much appreciated and more than helpful.

Happy growin

peace

Yeah, make a plan and address the variables you can. Keeping a log of what you're doing is key. Most importantly read, read, read. There is a wealth of information on this and other sites, all I'd say is, if it sounds like a marked departure from what would occur in nature, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

hay all, how's it going? all well and good I hope.

So I have had a look at the girls and from what I have read I think it they were suffering from nitrogen toxicity.. I am adding a couple of photos but if anybody here can confirm it or correct me if I am wrong and offer some advice I'd very grateful.

Don’t think you have too much of a problem. I’m gonna ru through thread again quickly.
I find myself my grow nutrients down get used a lot.
Nutrient companies want to sell more product, and as for growing in tents my plants are normally flipped somewhere between 12-18 inches so they might only get one feed of grow nutes unless I see early signs of deficiencies.
Now I do mainly grow quite balanced hybrids, if I was growing near pure indica would expect to use more and towards sativa spectrum the opposite, if I was growing certain sativa land races I might even worry that there’s too much nitrogen in my soil from the start.
You’re using canna soil right? Unless your growing monsters with an extra long veg I doubt ph of soil will change at all. Save yourself a job and don’t worry as with your timescale don’t think you have time to fuck things up. Leave water out for at least 24 hours. Check ph of water but unless it’s very high soil has buffers and wil regulate itself to some extent.
A good way to assess this is to do the Pepsi challenge, run two identical clones. Treat one like a weed and let it do its thing. And fuss the other one then you can look at results. And remember it’s easier to treat a deficiency than to nurse an over fed plant back to health. The guy who said get a watch is quite right. A seed will have enough nutrients to grow for three or four weeks without manually feeding.
In this time if you feel the need for supliments try just giving something like rhizotonic get those roots thriving good healthy roots will help keep your plants healthy from disease and stress. And is how your plants take up there nutrients if not foliar feeding

Ps. If you’re that worried about chloramine you could use rain water it won’t have as much calcium as tap water so you may need to add especially if using leds. Also if using rainwater from outdoor collection make sure is covered so insects can’t lay larvae, had catipilar hunt on here one year

Keeping the roots warm is a MAJOR factor in plant growth. A plant with cold roots will grow at half the speed of an identical plant in a warm root zone, especially when first starting out. With warmer temps come a larger chance of mold and fungus, so don't keep it too warm. My roots avg about 72f...a little warmer during the day, a little cooler at night. Warm the roots and you will see an increase in vigor, I promise!

Hwy peeps. Sorry I been quiet just busy with life.

Anyway - everything was going relatively well, but I have an issue I can't seem to get on top of and it seems to be getting worse/progressing. So the tips of some lower leaves started to turn yellow/brown and curl up> i read it could be a zinc deficiency due to lack of N. After over feeding in the begining and gettin a bit of N tox, I backed right off. I went really light into flower, and leaves started to turn yelloow, so I deduced that the zinc def was down to them being hungry/lacking N. SO i upped the feed. The leaves went a nice dark green colour, however the brown/yellow leaf tips progressed from below to up top. Any ideas or help as always greatly appreciated.

Here's some pics.

Hey how did these turn out in the end? It looks to me like they were overwatered at first then pretty much fine after. Well done for keeping organic!
