So I have many of friends that have been growing for YEARS that are mystified by my issue. Perhaps you might be the one to solve this dramatic mystery!!

Plants grown and started organically - 707 soil - compost teas, green grow top feed, thrive (fish 20-0-0) for N (which I didn't use much of), and bloom city for cal-mag. I use llamha poop as a top dress, mykos all the good shit.

As my plants transition into flower, I gave them some Flora nova and 1 ml ginormous twice in one week (yes, after being vegged organically) and left for a week on vacation. I also noticed that the was some beginning signs of russet damage so I sprayed sulfur three days daily prior to my departure. Here's them before I left:

What I came back to made my heart drop.

Can ANYONE explain what this is?!?! I've looked up nutrient burn, sulfur burn, every single possible nutrient toxicity, leaf burn, every image on Google and can't find ANY that match this damage.

It starts like this:

Please please please (with cherries on top) weigh in if you know. My initial impression is burn of some sorts. Yours??

I have never used sulfer and I grow indoor hydro.

Is it progressing to new leaves or just getting worse on the affected leaves?

When I've googled sulfur burning plants the leaves are literally ripped to shreds. (Which is why I am like hpm?) It's not on new leaves but existing leaves (and new existing leaves are getting worse)

Could it have been sulfur reacting with water on the leaves, making H2SO4 (Sulfuric Acid) and burning the leaves? I would expect to see more damage along the drip points, but the plants look great otherwise.

Whether the leaves have holes in them, or if they're brown and dying more slowly depends on the severity of the burn, with that said in my opinion it seems reasonable that you have burnt your plants with the sulfur. About all you can do is rinse them well and watch new growth and if it's healthy you got lucky, good luck!

I had a water soluble version of sulfur. I used at proper amounts. Once I figured out this burning might be from the sulfur I tried spraying off the sulfur with water. I'm guessing that messed them up even more now? Any advice as to what I should do to move forward? Obviously, I should stop foliars, yah? Thanks!!!

Thanks beachwalker. I'm shaking my head at myself. I shoulda known better :( just sucks that they are already in week 2/3 and won't be making many new leaves persay.

Understand, it could be something else; Did you have somebody else feeding them while you were away? If not then I would highly suspect it's a sulfur burn. Check your runoff make sure everything else is in line

I did. But they supposedly followed my schedule to a T. What else could that be though? I've never seen a toxicity or deficiency that grand. Here's a perfect picture of how it starts:

You'll see the top leaves are half way yellowish, then they start getting those brown spots inline with the yellow.

I am super duper perplexed because until I can figure it out, I don't know how to move forward with watering. Should I feed or not? Should I foliars and just do water? If it is sulfur on the leaves then I should not spray or foliar as that will make them worse. If it is an over nutrient burn then I should not feed and foliar and just give pH water. It's quite a conundrum! I've spent many of hours combing the web for pictures or for ideas as to what exactly this is (and I've contacted my pest expert from San Deigo University to make sure I don't have some new strange pest) I'm really truly mystified.

I hardly think it's mystifying it's probably sulfa burn, infact your plants look nearly identical to the plants in the picture I posted that are sulfa burned

Again, do a slurry test or at least check your runoff to eliminate other possibilities

I agree I was thinking sulfur burn but wanted to see if it was continued on new growth. If it was I would look to the roots/soil. But I think it's likely just from the sulfur. Keep an eye on new growth if it's good than I'm sure you have your answer.

It's a nute burn for sure, top fan leaves are more affected meaning an uptake or absorption of too much of one thing since you were using sulfer more recently I'd say more than likely that's your cause. Either through the roots or through the leaves themselves. Id do a complete wash of just normal water maybe with a small amount of aloe, soil flush and foliage rinse ASAP with twice as much water than normal for first water, let the soil dry one more day than normal than just water normally rest watering then water heavily again and rinse. Just back off the additives to the water for a week or two and repeat watering process, since you're growing organic no need to worry about exesive water too much, the microbes and soil life handle that and actually they prefer moisture in soil rather than drying out periods of soil, but definitely cut the extras in the water for two weeks then resume with smaller doses just to be safe. Hopefully with the ganja gods on your side you garden of weeden will be A OK.
Plants Look beautiful otherwise and I can tell they were heartbreakers before the accident. They'll turn around if you caught it in time so no worries be Happy gowmie Happy growing and hazy harvests my friend. Never give up.

Sulphur wouldnt affect predominantly one half of each leaflet like we see in most leaves in the pics. It reminds me of photos you see sometimes of alleged TMV cases where the disorder is primarily on half the leaflet.

And I use sulphur quite a bit, when a plant is burned by sulphur it's normally because the temp of the burner went too high and made hydrogen sulphide, OR, you've used something like neem oil on the plants in the couple weeks leading up to application. I've never seen wettable powder or properly vaped sulphur burn plants under any conditions.

I'm thinking there is something else going on here. Did you apply neem or any oil based pesticide before or after applying sulphur?

Yes it's quite possible that. I've been using plant therapy. So, yes, I had them on a regular rotation of different sprays, plant therapy being used mainly. Then also 3n1 (oil), grandevo, venerate and that's pretty much it. I've realized now that plant therapy has oil in it. When I came back home, I initially thought it was pests so I sprayed plant therapy (and vigorously washed down with water after my friend pointed out it was an oil base.) Ugh...I've been washing down with water foilars daily and have had them on a super light diet of mainly water with a bit of kelp here and there (kelp is like a save all..) I've gave them pretty much straight water for the past week and am slowly reintroducing a compost tea today. I've also been watering less. What a mess :(

Thanks for weighing in. I appreciate everyone's input 🙏
