Hello.

I love looking at new setups. It can be a fun thing to plan out.

Light is the most important thing.

My advice is you want to aim for 40-60 watts per square foot of growing area from that kind of "blurple" lights.

Those lights are combined 210 watts with both mode switches turned on. "Power Factor: Veg= 90W +/- 5% Bloom= 120W +/- 5%"

So you have 420 total watts of lights (Haha)

And you have 6.67 Sq Feet of growing area.

This means you have about 63 watts / ft^2. That is very good.

As for the rest, are you planning to grow soil or hydro? Any specific details of what you will use for growing media?

What strain will you grow?

Good luck!

Bad deal, don't get blurple lights. Plenty of lighting threads on here with some good suggestions, you should definitely do some more reading and researching before making a purchase. The combo/kit prices are also generally more expensive than if you bought each item separately.

The economic value may not be there. But it should produce good results at least.

I would suggest you go with Hydroponics if this is your first time. It takes a little more to set up but I think it is easier to run, diagnose, and correct for issues.

4x 5-gallon bubble buckets would be good for that space.

You would need:

4x 5-gallon buckets
4x Net-pot lids
4x Airstones
Rockwool starter-cubes
Hydroton Clay Balls
PH Meter
TDS Meter, (aka EC or PPM meter)
Aquarium Style Air Pump.
Aquarium airline hose.

Put the germinated seed in the Rockwool.
Put the Clay Balls in the Netpots.
Once Rockwool cubes root, bury them in the clay balls.
Aerate the buckets with an aquarium style air pump/hose/stone combination.
Keep the PH between 5.5-6.5
Choose a non-organic nutrient option.

I hope that gives you some food for thought.

DWC

that is not correct that whole set up is around 300 and if i buy a light a fan and a tent it would be over 300 if i got them separate

My advice is start with what you can afford spending most of the money on the most important. For that price i don't feel you can go wrong. Even if ya get 1 grow with this equipment it will pay for itself and then some possibly even 3-5x depending where you live. Its not the most ideal but from a cost vs gain perspective i think it will be hard to beat. I agree with @FourthCity about the blurples but again cost vs gain hard to beat. If yo can make 1 solid grow in this it will more than pay for upgrades.

Having done a fair bit of hydro and now just starting a soil grow I would recommend coco if you have the time to water. There is a couple ways to do it, high frequency watering in smaller pots or larger pots requiring less. It has the benefit of less equipment than hydro yet still the ability to control like hydro. I have not grown in coco yet but there are some very talented growers here that could help you get on your way who do if you decide. Coco also has growth rates like hydro and I can tell you first hand there is a significant difference in growth rates between the 2.

A ph and TDS meter will be tools you should get and use often. I suggest a PH meter that can be calibrated. PPM meters are usually much less finicky and less problematic so almost any will do.

If you had the money I would be with @threatco I'm an absolute lover of RDWC and the growth rates are out of this world but with that said I think hydro should only be RDWC as the individual buckets get to be a lot of work later in flower and with the lower overall volume of water to work with it gets a bit more challenging.

If you choose soil there are plenty of great indoor soil growers here and many different mixes as options.

I think its good to start small and cheap then you learn what you like about your grow and what you don't like. At that time you can invest more money into what suits you but this is a good option to get your feet wet and I feel if things go well you will be upgrading after the grow. But if not then atleast your not out a buncha money.

It is true, 4 buckets is 4 times the daily work of rdwc or ebb and flow.

But for newbies, the addage "all eggs in 1 basket" carries great weight.

From personal experience, it helped me learn. You get more hands on time daily. When there is a problem, you have other plants to compare it too. Did you mess up and let 1 bucket go too low ph? Do you see the difference. But best of all, you can easily pick em up and take them out for inspection and study. Easier to keep clean. Get root rot cause water temps got too high? Now only 1 plant impacted.

I feel like until you do DWC it's hard to appreciate the value of the other systems.

yeah i can say those are advantages... but i feel there are more disadvantages like stability, diggin in by the roots and taking them in out risks damage which leaves em open to infection, water depth swings daily, ph swings, nutrient imbalances and most of all a lot more work. I do agree ideally its good to understand the difference and appreciate the difference and you get to be more up close and personal with the plants. But i find that novelty wears off pretty quick once the initial buzz goes and it becomes work.

I would much rather do 16 single res sites than 16 dirt sites though lol... well almost

Lets get some info here OP where are you growing and what are the temps and humidity like? eg basement bedroom etc.

How many plants are you looking to grow?

What is your expectation for harvest?

Do you need to worry about smell?

Can you vent out a window?

Yes it is.

Blurples are not bad.
I agree they will grow some great bud. Once you get a little more advanced i feel there are slightly better options but its not gonna be the absolute night/day difference some think and you usually pay a lot more for a little bit of gain

I'm in the southern us and just want 2 or 3 plants thinking that should keep me high and happy lol yes I have to worry about smell and can't vent out a window but can cut a whole for a vent or if I had a tent just vent it out in the room the tent is in in summer heat will be an issue as in winter cold will be one so I will have to work around that

can't remember alot of it but we did have some pretty plants about 5 feet tall but we fcked up cause we couldn't tell the sex of the plants and ended up with seeds so we gave up
