My guess is from an evolutionary perspective the plant doesn't want to waste resources because of a windy day or a cold rain it wants to know that the ground temperature is changed

Im sure they are signalled by air temp, change in light intensity, nutrient availability etc. not just ground conditions.

But indoors we can play god and let them keep growing in a stable environment. I do t want to copy the harsh conditions outside.

Only a few times have i ever smoked outdoor weed that was better than good indoor.

I wish i could have grown those flowers indoor to compare.

I absolutely agree other cannabinoids are extremely important. I have read plenty of things to be convinced that they are responsible for a lot more than we thought including the high we get.

I think we are going to see more info on overall compounds in the next few years.

Caretenoids, anthocyanins etc

Smoke a mixed salad bowl or use multiple plants in your edibles and the entourage effect becomes very clear.

I agree there would be a mix of factors. But some may have more or less influence than others, and some are easier to manipulate for our purposes. Its a bang for buck calculation going with simple cold water to roots exposure.

Because i have plants in all stages in 2 rooms i have settled for static temps and humidity. Not lowering temps during ripening definitely has not lowered potency. Just the purple.

With that fact and no bloom nutes shortening my plants flowering to 8 weeks and the constantly improving results i got made me question everything.

I ran a lot of side by side clones to decide how to do things.

That's not really a fair statement because your room temps are close to what I lower my temps to in late flower.

I assume that the break down of cannabinoids by temperature and light in a living trichome is part of the normal process. It is just turned back into those lovely cannabinoids/terpenes once again later on. (I think during the dark cycle).

The amount of "potency" lost from living mature plants in a warm environment I assume is minimal. (warm meaning above the evaporation point of target cannabinoids and terpenes)

The cannabinoids/terpenes exposed from ruptured trichomes I assume would evaporate, and I assume is where most of the smell comes from people notice from "warmer" plants.

^^speculation^^

Yeah I was referring to the end product not so much in the living phase.

confused

you were saying you expected higher temps in later flower would result in lower potency, right? That is still living phase, right?

My point was that it is known to apply during the drying/curing process. I was skeptical it applied as significantly to the late flower (pre-harvest) phase.

Am I understanding you right?

They stay 75-78 farenheight hps on and 67-72 lights off. Above that with the hps is heat stress territory.

Proper environment is standard for quality in the first place.

I dont change ambient temps during ripening but i do lower the plant away from the lamps a couple inches. That helps maintain the trichomes and terpenes. Very few degraded trichomes at the end of the light cycle that way.

No nothing about potency per se. More about Terps and flavonoids.

Yes I can absolutely see that especially with a light that's gives off IR

Was a bit slow going getting it all trimmed. But we have a final tally.

In this 1m^2 grow tent with roughly half Ice Cool plants and half NL#5xHaze plants, ebb and flow.

I got a grand total of......

610 grams of dried hand manicured buds

Very happy with that!
