Tonight I was doing some research regarding all the purple stems I'm seeing on the plants. Numerous places (and I mean many) assume right away it's a Mg deficiency. The recommended dosage is 1 teaspoon per gallon of Epsom Salts for a few watering until it improves.

I might have left it at that, if I wasn't already supplementing the room with a high quality Cal/Mg, a trusted brand for over 50 grows. I can't say I've ever seen so many stems in this condition. After further research, I found this:

"Is it normal to see purple streaks on the stems / petioles?

No, LED lights do not cause any kind of nutrient deficiency; purple streaks on stems and petioles are a normal response to exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.

A rumor was started that LED lights cause magnesium deficiency when people noticed that some plants develop purple petioles (leaf stalks) or streaks on the stems under LED lights, but not under HPS lights. While purple coloration on stems and petioles can be one of the signs of magnesium deficiency in plants, it is also a sign that the plant is producing natural purple pigments (anthocyanin) in response to ultraviolet (UV) light. Many artificial lights (including HPS and most LEDs) don't give off UV light, so plants grown under these lights don't produce this natural pigmentation. Under these UV-lacking lights, purple coloration is often a sign of magnesium deficiency. However, when grown under UV-containing lights or natural sunlight, plants will produce their full range of natural pigmentation-- it is not necessarily a sign of a nutrient deficiency.

The major symptom of magnesium deficiency is usually yellowing, blotchy-looking (chlorotic) leaves, accompanied by purple stems and petioles. When growing under LED grow lights, unless the leaves are chlorotic, purple stems and petioles are not a sign of a magnesium deficiency-- they are a sign of a happy, healthy plant."

So, I'm glad I did more research. The Gavita's provide an ample amount of UV, and this is exactly what's going on. Life is good........ LOL.

Purple is usually phosphorous and often caused by too much mag or calcium.

Or like you said brought out by full spectrum lighting. Plants under my 315 cmh are always more colorful wih purple and yellows than my hps.

Full spectrum led seems to do this too.

Bruce bugby is maybe the top expert in this field and only mentions that all nutrients may need to be increased in ratio 2-1-2 is best for cannabis from his tests for high intensity led lighting.

Also the top lights maxed out require co2 they are so high in daily light output.

I also asked Gavita about light height, which really about spacing in the room. My actual question was about proper height of the Led’s For flowering. Here’s their reply:

“We appreciate your interest in Gavita.

With the 1700e, 120x120cm is actually already occupied, so you cannot use them closer together. In a space of 5m wide, max. 3 can be placed next to each other. You just have to divide it equally.
If it is a space of 5x5m, then you need 3x3.

With the 1700e fixture, in principle, 120x120cm to 150x150cm is a great size to bloom with. The height is at least 60cm away for good distribution, perhaps a bit higher at 150x150. In general, I recommend 130x130 to 140x140 per fixture as a guideline.”

So it appears 18-20 inches is about right.........I’m thinking 18 inches in a 4x4 room and 20 inches in a 5x5 room.

Try the viviosun fans. They have great reviews. I'm thinking about buying one very soon

Ughh.......so I had ordered a CO2 test kit syringe, and today I got around to checking my levels. First test did not register at all, so I did a second one with the same result. I wrote a note to Hydrofarm with some pic's and they asked where I got the kit from. I said from Ebay. From the pic's they could tell the kit was made in 1983 (that's correct, the kit it 37 years old). I asked if that could have affected the results......they said possibly. They told me to return it for a replacement.

Well I got it off some schlub on Ebay, he hasn't answered me as of yet with my concerns. So back to square on........ and I'll rely on Ebay to get my refund.

Well, both tubes have been used now. I messaged the seller thru Ebay yesterday, still no response. I can go thru Ebay in a few days to force the refund if he refuses. I'll let everyone know.

Thurs will be 5 weeks in flowering, I'll bring everyone up to date then on the room, just know things look great and are filling out nicely.

But today, let's talk about Dr. GreenThumb out of Canada. On 7/6, I bought a MoneyGram money order for $375 for 3 packs of his Turkish Cookies and Internationally Expressed it thru the post office to him, which cost me $45. Ten days later (it was guaranteed delivery in 7 days) it made it up there and was supposedly delivered per the USPS. So today is 2 days short of 4 weeks and no news. I was able to get the $45 back from the P.O. for the late delivery. Now Money Gram is showing the M.O. was never cashed, so it's floating out there somewhere.

I emailed Dr. GreenThumb a couple of days ago, looking for some confirmation, tracking info- anything actually, but still no reply. So, I did ask for a MoneyGram refund after filling out 2 pages of info i.e. where and when it was bought, how much, was it filled out or not (I left it blank), etc., etc. If it's not cashed, they will refund it in the form of another M.O. in 7 days.

I think I mentioned I also ordered some seeds from Expert Seeds out of Ireland as a backup, but I also have some Katsu Bubba's too I can use. I just don't want to be short when the time comes in 6-7 weeks. Regarding Dr. GreenThumb, a disappointment no matter what happens. No communication from them at all, you would think at a minimum they would confirm receiving the order. NOPE. Secondly, you would think they would reply to a customers email. NOPE. There are tons of complaints about him out there, i.e. not receiving orders, poor sprouting, questionable genetics in some of the strains, nasty personality if you call him, etc. I was willing to take a chance, cause I wanted the genetics but maybe some you others might think twice about it. It may still work out, at this point if I can get my money back from MoneyGram I'll be happy, if not, so be it.

I think before I mentioned that I know Dr. GreenThumb had his business up for sale about 2 years ago and after a year or so, he couldn't sell it. Not sure why, maybe he was asking too much for it- I actually never got the exact reason but the info is from a very reliable source that knows him well. I also know he was having health issues, either with himself or family, among some other things too. So for now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (but not for much longer).

Can you do me a huge favor? I may swap to 4 or 5x 1700e gavitas. Can you do the back of hand test and check for heat? 4" below rails, and 4" above.

Much appreciated. I dont wanna have 4 or 5 1700e collecting dust.

I tried to dm you, but you have those turned off.

Just got a refund for the CO2 testers.....the seller apologized- he admitted it was very old and the last one in stock. Lol
At least the seller made things right fast. I do wonder what reading you get. I am running an exhale bag in a tent on the floor with the idea that it will be pulled up and out of the tent, but should have some effect as that process is somewhat gradual. A $30 experiment I guess. I think I actually got the idea reading this thread lol.

Milson......well, I have 2 of the oversized bags in there, I expected some type of reading- NOT ZERO. I'll be buying another CO2 test kit again, I'll let you know.

Aqua Man.......by the looks of that plant, I would have probably been a little disappointed at this point in the buds at almost 5 weeks. The majority of those plants that are getting more light and are substantially thicker, more to my liking. I'll be doing a defoliation on Thurs., just removing anything blocking lower buds and I'll take another pic showing some thicker stuff then. She was just the easiest to get to.

For a girl coming from a home where she is tossed to the side, lacking the love and attention her siblings get. Stuck standing against the wall at the school dance. She sure looks happy and healthy and hides her emotions well... I would think she will grow up to be a cold hearted bitch. The kind we all fall in love with atleast once lol.

Looking great man and thank you. 👍

She’s not lacking love, damn it! She’s not the prettiest right now, but she could be a swan in sheep’s clothing. Lol
Lol c'mon now ya tossed her in the corner and pulled her out like the poor third world picture day lmao. Not good enough for the group family photo... Hahaha ok I'll stop... A lot of ppl would be very pleased with that myself included. If that's the redheaded step child I can't wait to see the others 😁
