This is my first grow!

I have 4 Pink Kush Clones that have been planted with living soil into 5G fabric pots.

I have utilized a lot of LST, topping & pruning with these plants to increase the yield during the flowering stage as much as I can.

It receives 6.5 ph water every few days or so (usually when the pots feel light)

I have been using Bluesky Organic growing kit for nutrients, and honestly I think they are greaT

I spray an insecticidal soap every 3-4 days during low light.

I feel as if I should let them bush out, they now look as if they are entering flowering stage.

Please let me know what you think, anything else I can do to better my grow.
Best,
Aubz

will 2 days of total darkness shift my plants into complete flowering stage ?

Ancient ones say that when you are done with vegging 2 days or 36 hours in total darkess sends a message to the plant /hey/u/flower

I googled the subject and read all the posts about periods of darkness. There is a lot out there that suggests that it is a good practice and it works. I tried it on my small grow and the plants perked up nicely -- but I don't have a blind test of what the plants would look like if I had just flipped the switch. It could also work better on some strains than others. The quote below did do a double blind test suggesting a 30% rise in THC. Wonder what the big growers do...? In any case some people say dry your buds in darkness other say light. Everyone agrees total darkness is very important while the plant is sleeping. I have the reflective coating on the drapes in my jungle room for that reason.....

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

Overall really mixed reviews. Noticed many people say it works for some strains and not others. If you plan on running the same strain for a while cut some at the end, some at 24 and the rest at 48.

I will do 24-72 hours just so my harvest falls on my days off work.

Thought we were talking about this question will 2 days of total darkness shift my plants into complete flowering stage ? OP asked of different things to do that could increase yield....but I could have misread. This type of bulletin board format doesn't do much to establish best practices.
