Maybe flower time should be a question on your list of questions to prospective participants. I run an 8 week room, if someone were to toss a 10 week-er at me, that would through everything off. Is there a way to set up a poll that asks participants the harvest time / structure / high / yield etc on separate polls? I have genetics that can basically fit any bill, whichever the crowd seems to want to go with. Right now I'm finishing a cross of Afghani #1 to the f2 stage.

So from flip to pollen it's about 3 weeks? Should the girls get a head start so they have more bud sights to pollinate?
Yes, let the females start for 1.5 -2 weeks, then add your male in. It will take about a week to drop pollen. In the meantime, the female is getting some bud development and the amount of pistils needed to make pollination worth the time. To early = fewer seeds, too late = long wait for seeds to mature and less viable progeny.

The mom is supposed to be an 8-9 week. Dad is unknown obviously. Other grow diaries ive seen have the sherbert at about 60 days which is what I like too. Definitely not looking for 10 weeks or more

Exactly the explanation I was looking for thank you! I will flip the girls tomorrow night then.

The way I imagined it was, that kind of selection would start when everyone started growing out the F1 seeds right?
Like anything that takes longer than 60 days doesn't get selected to breed again.
I was assuming different phenos could have different finish times? Is that not the case?

True, there may be a slight variation in finish times if the mom and dad don't line up with finishing times. But that could also bring a longer finishing plant down in time, like how breeders have worked with older strains to add quicker finishing times. That will need a wide pheno hunt, because some will be like mom, others like dad and then a few with both, and possibly a combination of traits from both expressed in different offspring.

@One drop I saw that beautiful strawberry cross you made man! That's part of what has inspired so much of this for me!!! Just like you said in another thread.. "put em together and let jah do the rest" ❀🌱❀

I’m doing my own breeding down here in the cold south trying to get my strains to be a little more cold tolerant is my aim in the next few runs . Od

I know most of us here probably watch what you do pretty closely! Thank you for taking the time and being so generous with the wisdom and helping out the less experienced growers like me so we can take our grows to the next level.

Thanks very much mate I know there’s better more technical growers on here with way more knowledge that this old has been I just tune into the plants vibes they tell me the story with there leaves having a good strong gut feeling in gardening gives you a great grounding in overcoming problems that may arise in the grow . I’m very glad to help out if I can we all were noobs at one stage I’ve just been lucky to have been born n raised in Nimbin with a hippy mum n dad they were both horticulturist and both gut feeling gardeners ... the apple didn’t fall far from the tree ....... Od

I flipped one clone for each sherbet plus two gran champagne that I'm checking out. I will add the dad in a few weeks once they are established. πŸ‘
