Have been running the greentree bucked Ebb and Flo system as of late. I see the PH going up a couple tenths over 2 days and the PPMs going up as well. Reservoir water is dropping but the PPM go up. If the system is completely dialed in would the PPM's go down as the reservoir empties?

Not the best to comment on ebb n flow, but maybe your ppm. Is to high?
Sounds like they are drinking more water than taking up nutes, would result in higher pH and ppm imp.

Use this as a guide line it pretty spot on, so by what you said the plant is drinking more than eating so lower the EC rather simple fix.

could also be a build up in your media depending on how you flood etc...

more info on your setup may produce more answers.

do you just test the reservoir or do check the run off or media too?

I do not believe hydroton has nutrient holding capacity to effect run off.

It really might just be as simple as take a pint or quart or res solution and replace it with distilled or RO water that will lower the EC and hopefully get the nute buffers working to go get back into falling water and static results

I get what you are saying. I have been trying that one as well.

I run the same setup. I also run a blue lab ph meter with a doser pump with ph down. I also top the reservoir every day especially in summer time when it’s a little warmer. If your ppm is going up after each watering, try flushing with fresh clean water and use some enzymes to flush out any salt build up. Ppms should drop gradually after each watering and as you top off with fresh water. I keep my system at 5.8ph.

Yucca extract is good for helping to break apart built up mineral salts if that’s the path y’all talking, it could be some residue or something.

That’s pretty much what I was getting at. I recently had a similar issue. I’m pretty sure ppms rising is due to lock out from salt build up and the pants excrete waste into the root zone when the lights out. Super common in the ebb n flow setups. I used some bio-cozyme in a flush with some powdered aspirin and it tunes them right up. For Anthem how ever, I would just flush fresh pH’d water and something like hygrowzyme or for a more gentle route, SLF-100. I’ve used these with good results.

In know this is a very late response, but it may help others who search for this issue. Excessive evaporation can also cause PPM to increase, though you would likely be looking at heat issues long before. While heat is the biggest cause of evaporation, allowing the buckets of Hydroton to fill all the way to the top of the peebles can increase evaporation as well, so if you recently raised the fill level that high then evaporation will suddenly increase also.

Hi there, where did You find that Picture. I would like to go to the website and read what else they have to say.
