Yes, the good probes have a nice rubber seal on the cap to help with that 👍
See I find it odd, after I use my pen I shake it once and rub it on my shirt and cap it lol and I’ve had no problems and test it on different solutions a lot always close “” and it’s a cheap 10$ pen from China the instruction no joke no English lol.

Ppm is 680 still.
Water temp is 21.1

plants still don’t seem dead. I cut 2-3 dead leaves off every 2 days or so

the new growth doesn’t look too great. But not dead yet.

still no roots dangling from the mesh pots yet.

Here's my rez routine, I use the same GH nutes as you. Workin for me so far but always happy to hear from guys like @Aqua Man to fine tune my technique

I have fountain style aeration so my rez is always mixing.

1. Fill it up and add h2o2 and then silica.
2. Let that mix for 10 min while I roll one up
3. Check Ph and lower to 6.5 because after you add silica it's gonna jump up like crazy and cause issues for the other stuff going in.
4. Add cal mag..puff 2 min
5. Add micro...puff 2 min
6. Add grow..puff 2 min
7. Add bloom...put out joint
8. Add diamond nectar and whatever else like floralicious
9. Check ph again and adjust to 5.8...done

Takes me about 20-30 min start to finish. I will double check ph periodically to monitor drift and throw some h2o2 in there. I'm drain to waste so rez ppm never changes.

👍

step 3. why check ph and adjust to 6.5?

The silica is so alkaline it will really shoot up the ph and cause precipitation issues when you add the calmag etc. At least this is my belief from what I've learned here at the Farm. Especially from @Aqua Man 👍
100% bro...

You must ph down after adding silica as the ph will be well over 9 and sometime as high over 12. As @Grownsince95 stated if you don't you WILL get precipitate. This is why its added first then ph adjusted. Unless your want the res to look like a snow globe of unavailable nutrients 😁

That or the silica could gel up I’ve had that happen when I didn’t mix correctly one time and my 1ml dropper gelled up and that shit is hard to get out! Lol

Generally ot a smart thing to do just for shits n giggles; but if you just gotta, remember add acid to water, in order to gradually raise acidity of solution and avoid a reaction that can splash concentrated acid where you'd prefer not to get it.
